Design error? The tweeters in the font doors too prone to water damage?
I don't think I've seen anyone mention this before, and I'm surprised, because this is a common problem for me.
You're going through a drive-thru to get something to eat. It's raining. You roll down the window to order. Rain gets all over the tweeter speakers.
Is it just me? The way they're designed, I feel like it's not very smart to have them sitting there unprotected like that. And the tops of the tweeters are actually angled DOWN, so any rain that gets on them while rolling the window down, or opening the door while it's raining, actually rolls down and into the speaker grill.
Yes? No?

Yeah, a few around here do, but most don't. Surprisingly, Seattle isn't totally prepared for rain.
But see, it's not just a problem in the drive-thru. It's also when you open the door to get in while it's raining. If I don't wipe the rain water off the top of the tweeter immediately, it drips into the speaker mesh. I've never had that problem with other cars before. There's always something in front of it to block out and protect.

if they rain gets in your window and on your tweeter, then it will get on your switches and short them out too! so what is the real design problem now? i had this problem on a cherokee.

While that's true, I guess I'm just more worried about the tweeter shorting out than the switches going. The switches seem more protected and covered by plastic, as opposed to the tweeter that's protected by nothing, angles downward to drive the rain, and has an exposure due to the mesh cover. The tweeters are also closer to the opening of the window. If you open your window only an inch, the tweeter is still totally exposed to the elements, whereas the switches and everything else on the lower parts of the door are fine.

Well....I can see that as a problem, I guess. Almost same design on my VW GTi. Tweeters were sitting in the same place. I'm pretty sure Lexus wasn't the only genius to come up with where to put the tweeters.
