Cracked interior plastic
I've had my '08 IS250 for a little over two months now (2,100 miles) and I got in the car the other day and noticed the clear plastic piece over the air control readout had a small crack on the lower edge. It's small, but it's the only thing I see when I look at the control unit.
I'm as **** about my interior as anyone and I only use a damp, microfiber cloth the wipe the controls. I have no idea how this happened and I'm sure it wasn't anything that I did.
I took it to the dealership yesterday and was told that they would have to run it by the factory rep.
Questions:
1. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
2. Does anyone know if the clear plastic piece is separate from the larger unit?
3. What are the chances that the dealer actually fixes this?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

The clear plastic piece is considered part of the whole unit and has to be replaced as an assembly. You can try and ask the dealer under warrenty, but doubtful as they will consider it your error.

I have the exact same problem with my plastic panel. I wouldn't call it a crack on mine but a fairly deep scratch on the right, lower part of thetemperature control panel. I have no idea how it got there either. I called the dealership if they sell the plastic panel. They do have the part, but the control buttons below the plastic panel comes with the part. They quoted me a part price of $320 plus an hour or labor charge. I decided not to get the replacement because my wife is saying I'm overreacting
