Default am i being lied to?

i went to Len Stoler Lexus tonight to negotiate. i want an 08 is250 6MT base. no options, only NAV. They quoted me for $33,273. we started talking, and they dropped it another $800 to $32,480. i started to negotiate even more and told them im not going to pay over $30,000 OTD. they said that $30,000 is lower then then invoice and there is NO WAY i would get for that much, which i find hard to believe. i asked if ALL dealers pay the same invoice, he said yes, most definitely. is he illinformed or just lieing to me? so after talking for another hour, i left without the car and went home. i went to edmunds.com and checked the invoice and it said it is $29,877 and what most people paid was $30,774. is this right? i printed this page out and will confront them about it tomorrow.

Navigation is a 2K option. Base IS250 with premium package should be around 29K+TTL

I think 31-32K+TTL might be pretty good for a IS with Nav. (NOT sure about the difference from AT and MT)

(this is in CA, where its quite competitive)

Is this is a car that you would order? Because all cars i believe will have at least some sort of package.

When i was car shopping, Even the base IS250 had the premium package.

You asked for $30000 OTD, which means including taxes, DMV fees, etc., so you are really asking the dealership to sell you the car for about $28000, which is NOT reasonable for a vehicle equipped the way you describe.

Also, as a completely unrelated question: have you test driven the 6MT. I'd definitely recommend you try before you buy.

I agree with Recluse, I had the opportunity to purchase a starfire 6spd manual with NAV, 18's and hids for invoice which was a little over 31k. With NAV, that would 29.8k plus tax. After test driving the manual, I was dissapointed with the power and the transmission was not as smooth as many of the trannies that are out there like honda/acura offers. So I purchased the 350 instead.

There is NONE SGM for 6MT. You have to special order....

Consider yourself lucky if they are willing to get you close to invoice. Most of the dealers are asking for MSRP...

Based on the Edmunds numbers, you could do *much* better. What Others are Paying is an AVERAGE--some more, and some LESS.
