is it ok to wax/polish our IS again after 2 months?

I wax my car once a month with Zymol. I never worry about the wax buildup concept because most car wash soaps remove wax and salt debris etc. Cleaner wax's work well, but if you have bad swirls, you will have to use clay and a seperate polish. Swirl marks typically happen from an oribital buffer being applied to hard on the paint and if done by hand, applying too much pressure. Make sure your paint is cool to the touch. It is best to avoid waxing in direct sunlight.

I was sooo pissed when the dealership took my IS to the drive-thru wash after it came off of the delivery truck, so I had swirls on my car from day uno! Anyway I've been washing my car with Meguiars gold shampoo/conditioner (this stuff won't remove previous wax applications), and I gave it a once over with Meguiars Color X wax (I think that's what it's called?). Swirl makes are barely visible now.
Yes, it does take time and effort to wax/buff.....but it's a simple process that you can't really goof; all it takes is a little elbow grease. Just make sure to do it out of direct sun light (like Brian said), but make sure you wax in a well lit area to see that the application goes on evenly. Use microfiber pads/towels in the application process (Walmart has a ton of Meguiars wash/wax goodies for a decent price).

Even though polishing does abrade clear coat, it's nothing to worry about. The amount of clearcoat being taken out is insignificant. We're not talking about the same level as wetsanding. Just keep on polishing and you should be good. I use to detail my car once every 3 months to keep it in shape.
