Some of the threads got me to thinking: do you like GPS permanently in-car or portable?

In dash becuase it's not only do you get navi but back up camera bluetooth and a lot of other thing but it also looks so much better in the car..... Also in my area there is a lot of people breaking into cars for the portable GPS units...

I like portable myself. Electronics from the manufacturers are WAY overpriced but I must admit they do enhance the look of the interior. But I just cant justify spending 2 g's on a screen.

My opinion is probably well known on this
The in dash in the ISx50 is 90s era technology, insanely overpriced for what you get.
Garmin sells GPSes with 7" screens BTW, still less than half the price of the in-car one. (though they're mainly purchased by folks with vans and RVs)
The aftermarket can already give you virtually all the features of the stock system, plus a slew of ones the lexus one can't, like realtime traffic, weather, local fuel prices add movie info, audiobook playback, and more... plus it costs 10 times less... Plus it's 2-3 times cheaper to update the maps... plus you can take it with you on trips... plus you can replace it easily with a better one when even more new features come out for again a tiny fraction of the cost of the Lexus unit.

In dash, not just because aesthetics, but also convenience. With the portable, you either have to hide or take the unit with you when parked, or you risk having it stolen.

I love the in-dash version, but there were no navi 250's in silver with black interiors on the lot when I bought mine. I do have great luck with my Garmin
c530. I use to ahve the first Street Pilot ColorMap back in 1999-2000. Man GPS continue to get better and cheaper.
