Question Planning to change to Potenza RE960AS but...?!

I know that our stock wheel comes in 225/40 for front and 255/40 for rear.

Potenza RE960AS Pole position has the size for front, but not for rear. What's the closest substitute to 255/40? Any suggestion?

Here is what is available according to tirerack.com:

245/40ZR18
245/45ZR18
265/35ZR18
275/35ZR18
275/40ZR18

I was thinking of 245/45 but would that make the tire look small?
or 275/40, any rubbing issue or loss in comfort in the ride?

Is it for you daily driver? If it is your tread is going to wear out so fast.

275/35 would be the nearest match in outer diameter.

I would go 265/35. I cant see 10mm causing a rubbing problem... but who knows.

A buddy of mine told me the tread will wear out faster because it's a ultra performance tire. I was planning to buy the same tires. I still might. I need more info about them.

I dont care if the tread will wear out fast or super fast as long as it reduces road noise, better handling, more grip and better performance in rain. that's all I am concerned about.

i dont mind changing tires every 20k miles if i need to

Just got these tires about 1500 miles ago and I love them. Great performance and theyre not very loud.

Im running 245/40/18 and 275/40/18's on my car and theyre a great fit. The front tires rubbed a bit but I fixed it with a heat gun in a matter of minutes.

I highly recommend these tires.

what do you mean by they are not loud? i thought these tires are very quiet, according to the review.

is the noise difference from turanza significant?

I mean they are not loud. Some tires are loud while others are not. These tires are not loud, however they are not the most quiet tire I've driven on. Performance is excellent though. As far as the noise difference between the stock Turanza tires and the REO960AS tires, I cannot say but I didnt notice a big difference so I would say its negligible.

To run a 275 on the rear you need a minimum 9" wide wheel.

Anyone tried the Turanza Serenity? I read the review from Tirerack, they are not bad!! In fact, as good as the RE960AS Pole Position.

But the fact that Turanza Serenity is Grand Touring tires, they will be more quieter I guess, compared to RE960AS, which is Ultra High Performance tires.

Am I right?
