Default Worst week ever? I think so.

So not only do I get 2 speeding tickets within 5 days of each other (got one this morning), someone decides to key my car on my lunch hour. Its down to the metal, so buffing is out of the question. Has anyone else here had their trunk lid repainted? How much did it cost? Is smoky granite mica a hard color to match?

I guess on the bright side I can debadge and have the holes filled since the whole thing is gonna need painted.

That SUCKS.... you could try some Meguiars ScratchX and the pen-tip side of the touch up paint but I believe that's wishful thinking... SGM is good on color matching from all I've read....

I can't stand people with no respect for other's property. Sorry for your loss and as I always say, Karma comes back those who invoke hardships on others. Unfortunately, the whole trunk lid will probably have to be repainted and possibly part of the adjacent paneling.

Well you don't have to have the whole thing painted because the trunk lid is a separate piece from where the emblems are...

Really? So that piece where the license plate is separates from the actual lid?

just go to the dealer. they'll match the paint. trunk piece alone should be about 500 bucks. hope they have loaners. you'll need to leave it there about a day for the paint to dry.

yes. you can see the line where it separates the license plate area from the top lid of the trunk. also, the 2 areas aren't even made of the same material. the top lid where it's keyed is metal and the license plate area is something else... fiberglass? but since your car is gonna have some down time while in the body shop, might as well just shave the emblems off at the same time. should cost 150-200ish?

wow.. that sucks, im sorry to hear that. i have a similar experience. i bought a gs 2 days later it gets keyed, 1 day later the 3m bar starts to peel, a few more days later the dealer scratches and dings my car backing up into something. all this to a brand new car within 1 week. WTF!..

GOOD LUCK on ur trunk.

you dont have to paint the whoel thing.. flick the part where the is250 emblem is and you can tell its a plastic piece.. compared to flicking your trunk where your big L is..

CLEARBRA THE ENTIRE CAR!

Only way to prevent these punks from damaging your car to a great extent. I hope they burn in hell for this!

I'll second that! It is time to get a good radar detector! My BEL has saved my @$$ so many times that I've actually lost count!! As for the keying, that is really sad that people are so destructive to other's property
