Road Hazard Warranty - FYI
A few weeks ago I got a bulge in the sidewall of my right front tire (this is the original Dunlop Supersport 5000 that came with the car). Dealer says it's a road hazard most likely caused by hitting a pothole, thus not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. New tire cost me $200 bucks from the Goodyear dealer (Goodyear and Dunlop tires are from the same company). Goodyear dealer says that for an extra $22 I should buy the road hazard protection since these low-profile tires are highly susceptible to this kind of (non-covered) damage. He also said that for an extra $22/tire he can warranty the other three tires, even though the tires were the original factory tires. Seemed like a rather cheap insurance policy, so I went for it. Just thought I would make it known that it might be a good idea for some of the other members to consider getting this coverage, especially if the vehicle/tires are still fairly new. Road hazard protection also covers free flat repair & 24-hour roadside assistance (which we have through Lexus anyway, I know). Food for thought, anyway...

Interesting - depending on the details, that sounds a lot more reasonable than the $800 my dealer wanted to charge me! (although the dealer tire coverage supposedly covered bent rims too...)
