Default xenons raising engine RPM's...

I noticed when I am parked and turn on the xenons, the RPM's jump up. Could they be drawing that much to make a difference on the engine? I like to drive with them on during the day, but it got me thinkin I might be screwing with my gas mileage. Any thoughts?

Its pretty normal for the RPMs to jump a little. Its not that they are drawing a ton of power, but any additional draw will make the ECU kick up the idle a bit. Nothing to be worried about, and i doubt you are effecting your milage very much at all.

Very Very true, and new power draw will increase the RPM a bit. HID ballasts run at only 35 watts as oppose to the higher wattage halogen at 55 watts. Interestingly, the ballasts produce 17,000 volts roughly. Not really enough to hurt fuel economy.

It does that on "modern" all cars too not just cars with xenons. If it has a ECU it will do it, older cars i.e. 70 or earlier wont do that.
