Checkout the interface from USA SPEC does everything the Vais is going to do, and it's around a $100.00 cheaper, I installed it and love it, works great.

The sound quality is execellent, and you can browse your music while you are moving but it is limited unless you do the Nav hack, just like any Ipod interface. To be able to have 100% control you have to do the Nav hack, no matter which unit you buy.

so pretty much this thing puts the ipod screen onto the nav screen (same idea at least)??? and lets you watch video? (even for those who don't have the ML option)?

to anyone who has any questions regarding this thread...just PM the vaistech member they respond very quickly and have all the info you are looking for.
Also if you currently have a vaistech product you can just get the firmware upgrade for your current unit and do not need to purchase a new one.

not really any late breaking news...basically he said the new unit and new firmware for existing customers will be available "very soon" and i got confirmation that it will not dissable any toyota safety features so in order to browse file you will need to still buy the hack kit or DIY. If you already have a vais unit all you need it the new firmware,which i believe is provided for free, to get the new features. As for the GB...i did not get any info either way on that issue.

Thanks for everyones patience! We are going to do a group buy as soon as all packages for the VI are released. We are still finishing up with package 4 for the cars with factory DVD or RES and all packages will be available in about 5 weeks. The update for advanced searching ability is in its testing phase right now and should be released for the VI in about 2 weeks.
