D2S and D4S are completely different bulbs, as per the name is different.
Bulbs come in all sorts of sizes and fitments that are used for different housings. There is H1 all the way to H11 sized bulbs, 9004, 9005, 9006 etc bulbs, D2's, D4's and some others that aren't so popular. Basically they're just different sized and different shapes to accomodate different housings except D4's have the latest technology of being mercury free. Each bulb size may or may not produce more lumens (light output) depending on its individual design.
Starting from D2 bulbs (and subsequently D4 bulbs), an S, R or C is used after the name. For example D2S, D2R, D4R, D4C, etc. These bulbs all fit one another however, S bulbs are for projector type housings, R for reflector type housings and C for both housings. The reason being that R bulbs have a ceramic layer on the side of the bulb to prevent excessive glare.
And all IS250/350/F's that have OEM HID and AFS used D4S bulbs. If they don't have HID/AFS, then the bulb size is H11. As for fogs it's 9006 sized bulbs
