Toss Up- Need Some Opinions
Here's the deal- I have 40 grand in my budget or less of course.
Would you opt for a 250 with NAV and Stereo goodies plus premium package OR go for the 350 without the above.??
Thats my dilemma now...........I have a SC 430 and want to add this to the stable..............SC stereo and NAV have spoiled me for 6 years............
Whats the verdict on power guys on the 250 v 350 for everyday driving.
I am a young 63.Whats the average MPG for both 250 and 350 responding in city and open roads? How bout dealers discounts on both models?

Ah a classic question.
Push in the back? Or gadgets?
If you have a hard line at 40K out the door, then this dilemma is present. But many people have been getting invoice pricing, which means you can get a 350 with Nav/ML (no luxury pack) for $37K-ish+TTL. That would be a bit over the $40K line, but not too much.
Don't compromise, you'll just regret forever.
As a bitter power-starved 250 owner (kidding), I don't mind the lack of power at all. I only need to go past 4K rpm maybe once a week. I do it more often for fun, but this is a commuter car for me. For everyday, I think the 250 is fine. Yes I have driven a 350, and it's too much for my 70 mph drone for 2 hours a day.
I think my avatar speaks to the MPG.
Dealer discounts should be similar on both models if you shop around enough.

For everyday driving the 250, while slightly underpowered, is fine. If you like to push it a little on occasion, you might be disappointed. The way I look at it, though, is that I appreciate the nav and luxury features on my 250 every day, while I desire the power of the 350 only occasionally.
As others have posted, though, you should be able to negotiate a deal for a loaded 350 for right around 40K and have the best of both worlds. And you might be able to get an even better deal at the end of summer before the 09's come out.

If you like to have all the goodies but dont want to break your bank, get the IS250 fully loaded! Lux/Nav + ML
or....... heres a thought....
Get a used IS350 with all your above options with low milage for the same price as the 250 loaded, And you will have the speed you want. how often do you really need all that power?
The IS250 is by no means underpowered. People just feel it is because they have a problem speeding with their lead feet.
Sry guys, I gave you all up lol.

I am very happy with my 250 and was originally going to buy the 350. With gas prices and me not goofing around anymore because I am an old man at 29, I am happy with my decision. I needed the AWD as well.

My vote is get an IS350 with either Lux or Sport (depending if you like the wood or aluminum look on the IS), and get the ML system -without- the Nav.
You can easily get that for under 40k, buy a better after market Garmin GPS that does more, and still have cash left over.
Because if you phrase the question as "Which is better, a RWD 250 with OEM nav or a 350 with a Garmin?" the 350 wins any reasonable comparison. 100 hp vs. taking an extra 5 seconds to move a Nuvi from the console to the dash.

My average MPG for the 350 is around 18 is I do 100% city, 26-28 with 100% freeways (cruise control @ 70 mph) and 22-23 with a 40 City/ 60 Freeway split.

I'd go for the IS350!!!
I was split when the decision came to navigation systems. We have a nav-car in our family, and to be honest, the all the system does is display the trip info 99% of the time its turned on (we probably used the nav about four-five times in the past three years). However, I have friends that travels to different parts of the state for their work, and their nav is their life line for them...they even spend $500/year to update their cars nav system.
For me, I passed on the navigation for sports/x-package on my IS350. I drive about 70-80 miles each day for work and get between 24-28 mpg in city+highway drive.
