In Cali, license fee is based on your car's value - approx 0.66% of the car's value.
My renewal fee was $248, license fee was $184. Simple math will give me an idea what my car was worth at time of renewal.. Approx $27,900.00.

Hey i am godd ol Atlanta also i seem to remember right under 500.00 for mine. I don't know about all of you in other states but here in Georgia your tag cost is determined by the year make and cost of the vehicle. But hey we have nice roads to drive on

And to think I was ticked when Illinois raised ours from $72 to $78 per year. I heard other states like Virginia charge a vehicle taxed based on vehicle worth (perhaps KBB market value). Does anyone else other than Illinois have to buy a village/city sticker yearly?

$62.75 in New York (I think registration in NY goes by vehicle weight). But we're the highest taxed state overall, so we get raped by the government in other ways. But, hey,at lest our car registration is cheap!
