Default OMFG WTF Lexus (my air freshener melted and ruined my vent area)

So I came out to my car today and I don't think I've ever been so angry.

I had one of those things that hang in your AC vents and make your car smell good, well today I came out to my car and the paint right underneath it literally melted and dripped away. The picture doesn't show the damage but it was on that top left vent and the silver part now has a hideous black mark and the silver dripped down over the glass where you see your AC status.
Has anybody ever heard of this!? I don't know if you can simply just replace the cover either because it seems that the silver part is all built into the AC unit. Any ideas? and do you think Lexus would cover this or am I going to have to purchase it myself?

Was it too hot inside your car and it melted the air freshener?

proive close up, so we can properly asses the damage.
if it was one of those oil filled airfreshners then yea, that happens on every car. The oil spills or seeps out and erodes away the paint. thats why i refrain from putting any oil based aroma dispensers in my cars. Not being rude but tts not lexus fault, Its yours

I agree with ndk, not to be rude, sorry to hear what happened but Lexus had nothing to do with it. I personally would just get those air freshener that are in cans that you can put in the cup holder.

I had one of those yankee candle things hanging from my shifter in my 00 RX and it melted the plastic it was ontop of.. I knew that the package said not to let the smelly thing touch any surface.. learned my lesson..

This happened to me with those plug in ones for the house. I rested one on my keyboard speaker ($200) and it literally melted the plastic when some dripped. I was shocked. It did not damage the speaker, but left a noticable imprint. These scented oils seam to be acidic in some respect. I would use one of those tns that can be kept under the sink. Those trees can stain plastic as well.

I actually have one of those air fresheners in each vent. Totalling 4 in the front and 1 in the back. Had my car 1+ years and turned the heat on high and nothing. I think you need to switch air freshener brands.
