air smell..need help

Not all cars and not all evhicles in a given model. For example it's (apparently) very common in the BMW E39 5 series cars but my 530i never suffered from this problem. Can be eliminated by gaining access to the evaporator and spraying bleach in there, but common sense dictates it would return. Try the suggestions on this forum re: turning your A/C off for a minute before turning off the engine.

Yes, seems to be the group consensus. Those odors are typically horrid. This is more disheartening if you live in a humid area like Chicago summers.

I've done the spraying lysol in the air vents thing and it works pretty good ... I do it about once a week, I cant stand that "dirty sock smell"

I'll keep that in mind the next time I am at Macy's, I am always looking for better colognes to keep things exciting.

It is usually the smell that absorbs in the customers clothing from that massive bread machine!!!

This smell issue is also common in the RX 350. Our 07 started to smell real awful and the dealer supposedly cleaned the evaporater. Since then the smell has disappeared. Hopefully this doesn't happen with our new IS350 as we are turning the heat up every so often as an proactive measure.
