2IS aftermarket stereo question thread

Well they sound okay but I added 2 12 inch W6 subs so now they just drown out due to the low wattage amp. Since the Lexus is wired with cross overs to the tweeter, mid, and woofer I would have to replace these with a set of three which are not only very hard to find but very expensive from what I understand and would require me to purchase a new Amp for them probably. On top of that if I change the amp im not sure if the nagivation sounds would work since the nav plugs into the stock amp......all i know is going from 4ohm to 8ohm would meat the sounds would be less loud. So even if the ML amp is 50% more powerful....it would be about the same loudwise probably just sound clear because they are better quality equipment. Someone correct me if im wrong.

replacing mark levinson system?
apparently when you buy a certified used lexus they do not have to disclose whether or not the sound system has been changed or altered, only whether it works or not. the other day i heard a rattle coming from one of the speakers so i pulled the rear panel to discover that nothing was factory, so i pulled the rest and they are the same. wouldnt bother me too much but it is all hacked up with wires and crossovers everywhere. so no i am going to replace as much as i can and clean it up and get some decent sound in the car. so i have a few questions about what to do. can i stick with the factory ML amp to power all my highs? if so does the amp have the built in crossovers or would i use the crossovers that come with my seperates i buy? who make a 2.5 mid speaker to fit in a factory location of the front door and rear deck, or would a 3.5 fit? should i just lose all the factory stuff (amp, speakers, sub ect..) and start from scratch. i just want a decent system that is reliable and clear. i have searched but most info is adding subs and what not. please let me know what you guys think. thanks

I don't know anything about stereos, but you should check the paperwork/windowsticker, etc. for the Certified Pre-Owned. Did it say Mark Levinson sound system? If yes, I think you have a valid claim against them. If Lexus stated it was ML, then they should install a ML system for free since that is what you agreed to buy.

Noob question about Subs??
I dont have ML but I have the stock audio with Navi. I feel like I need some more base and I dont want to get a new deck because I already have a nice Navi. Am I just suppose to buy like a 12" sub at put it in the back or do I need an Amp too?? Any advice would be very helpful. I dont want to spend more than 500 and any particular brands in mind?

I'm working on the same project right now and keeping the factory head unit. Like the poster above said, go with JL but with a $500 budget don't expect to get much.
I've got a question of my own, I'm going to purchase a 12in W6v2, could someone recommend what size JL amp I should buy to push it??

Bump,
same questions for me, MTX amp with two kicker subs on a IS250 non-ML/non-navi
Running power and remote wires for the amp is easy, hooking up the sub to the amp is easy. But for signal wires for the amp, which are RCA, can I just get a line out converter and tap into the rear speakers?
Or do I have to disable the stock sub or do something with that?
This is for an '09 IS250
