Doesn't appear to be that simple according to the "transmission fluid" thread on this site. Apparently, disassembly is so involved that it isn't cost effective to do an "flush and refill".
Poor design.
As for the Toyota manual transmission comment....this must be directed towards their automobiles, not the trucks. Having owned 6 4x4 Toyotas, I can testify to their MT durability in the truck line. I'm surprised to hear the MTs in the cars are that weak.

Yes, the clutch is notchy, noisy, 1st and 2nd gear can vibrate/shudder and it feels the same as my 1989 celica GTS. I drove 2 other MT IS250 and they grabbed very high brand new. Mine was OK, but I had dash crack noise issues.
Is it a bit more fun than the Auto 250, yeh it is, but I wouldn't buy another. I'd get a 350 or if a stick I'd go Bimmer 135i or G37
I've seen a Red with Tan leather back in 06'. It was a special order for dealership stock.

Short version of my experience: The clutch on my IS sounded like a jar of marbles, and so did the warranty replacement I got at 1400 miles. The travel of the clutch pedal is also very long, the friction point is very abrupt/non-progressive, and the shift throws are very long as well (and although shifts were very smooth on my car, other members have reported otherwise).
Feel free to do a search on my user name. There is lots more to read.
