Sold, Im out, peace!
Thanks for the good times over the past 2 years! I’m out. I have sold my 06 IS with 11K miles for $36000 and I've bought myself a new car. Im not the typical guy Ive seen post in the past saying "I moved up to XXXXXX" because I didn’t. I moved down and did it on purpose! I traded down to an 08 Honda Fit! I had to wait 3 weeks for it to come in (hell, I waited 3 months for my IS) and got it for $16700. I’m eager to hit the rare 40mpg club (will probably have to drive 40 mph to get that). In the end, I bought my IS thinking I would still be spending 2 hours in rush hour traffic. After I bought it, I moved to a new office and was putting under 5K miles on it a year. My IS is still in pretty much walk off the lot new condition. I will miss it. If I was still doing the traffic, I would not sell it. This move will save me $550 a month strait up. my MPG average in my IS for the entire 11K miles was 17, I should get 35 in the Fit. My insurance for 6 months was $400 for the IS, its $200 for the fit. That $550 a month will go directly into my monthly beer fund.
The fit is pretty quick up to 40 mph (rather comparable to the IS) and then it goes down hill to hell. There’s not much acceleration at highway speeds. BUT, the car handles like an absolute champ. Its been amazing me. This car could probably beat the IS on an extremely tight AutoX course (the kind where we wouldn’t break into 3rd gear on the IS, also known as a “Miata” track ). ITs a phenomenal handler around town on the street. Feels like my old CRX Si and del Sol VTEC.
It does feel good for me to return to Honda. This is the 13th Honda I have owned.
Thanks for the good times guys.

in reality its the smartest thing to do....if you want to save gas, and not have to put a big monthly payment, and the scheduled maintenance costs that your saving....smart.
Congrats....i bet you can take a big sigh of relief now, just not having to deal with it...i totally get it...

Wow, 36k. You probably order your car with all options available at the time to get the resale value that high. Typical 06 IS250 AWD is selling for 28k - 30k with almost everything (Nav + premium ..., don't know if there's adaptive headlight).
Anyways, gas price is super high now. I totally agree with what you do!
