Because of gas..I'm planning on a Mini

The cost of depreciation, paying taxes on a new/used car, and other fees such as title and registration; may be MORE than the savings from paying less at the pump.
Think about it...

I can tell you what I see here.....prices are going high, so everytime you stop at the gas station you go like:"...crap!! This is damn expensive...." then is when you remember how you SO LIKE THE MINI COOPER S and just by coincidence you would fill the tank with half the money...hehehe....I read you man!! I have been on a fight for a month already trying to convince myself that the prices are so dramatic that I do not have another choice...I NEED A BIKE!!! sporty, crazy and GAS SAVER!!!!
After the boring paragraph......I would lease another car just because I am not a fan of the MINI COOPER.

Not another Thread about how you bought a car you cant afford the gas or maintenance on. Stop Crying about it. If you wanna Feel the pain come drive my 4.8is X5 for a week and then you will seriously consider getting a different car. That stupid tank of a SUV gets 10-12 miles a gallon in the city! but you don't see me running back and buying another car.

Are you sure it gets 40mpg? From what I've read, they are more in the mid to high 20s in real use. I will have to check with my sister to see what she gets, although I am not sure she actually monitors it.
In any case, if you lease the Mini for $x/month, will you really save $x in gas every month? Plus, now you are maintaining 2 cars (service, insurance, ...).

I definitively think that you gotta chill out man!!! As I posted before many people fall into buying a DD or a smaller car because of the gas prices and the sensation of paying less for filling your tank. And If he is thinking to lease a second car and keep the IS, I do not think money is the problem......if you are capable to afford a $38K car, you do not die out of filling your tank. So now go and enjoy your 12 MPG man.....
thats all! im cool as ice now worries!!!!

Just do the math and balance this equation:
(Cost to operate Mini for X miles) = (Cost to operate IS350 for X miles)
Assuming you have to pay $400 per month to lease the Mini and you've paid off the IS350 already, and the Mini costs around $0.15/mile for gas and the IS350 costs around $0.22/mile.
(I've tracked the gas usage for my Prius and it costs $0.07/mile and my IS350 costs $0.22/mile).
Then you'll have to balance this:
400 + 0.15X = 0.22X
400 = 0.07X
X = 5714
So you'll have to drive at least 5714 miles per month to justify that leasing a 2nd Mini is more cost effective then just driving your IS.

I'd stick with the 350. The financials just don't make sense in you getting another car and the MINI gives you about 25-28mpg hwy, which you can achieve in a 350 by not speeding as much. I'm in the same boat as you, all I did was ease up on the pedal

Your friend is a liar no way a mini gets close to 40mpg. Go get yourself a yaris or fit. But if I were you I'd just trade my IS350 in for a IS250. Then you get to keep pretty much the same car minus the power but get over 30mpg.

that is with highway and city combined. I do 100% city in my 250MT, and I only get 18mpg

I actually don't care. The bunch of cars you have are already consume a whole lot of gas. Why are you only complaining about your x5?
