I just added Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer in with Royal Purple 5w20 for my oil change. Is this a bad decision?

 

well i havent heard grreat reivews on that lucas junk in general......and i honestly dont see the point in trying to make a great motor oil better?

 

no you didnt mess it up ive been using that on every oil change since 10k an im now at 50k

 

Is this the same Lucas so well known for its' electrical systems?

but IMO, synthetic oil for the 2is is not necessary. if you want to, its cool too. i just use regular oil for oil changes.

 

But dont go back to regular after you used synthetic tho :P and no you are fine...i dont think adding extra stuff to royal purple will help anything its just like those octane boost lmao.

Why are you adding **** to your oil? Motor oil manufacturers spend millions of dollars to get the chemistry just right in their products. If adding an oil stabilizer helped don't you think they would have done it already? If you're so concerned get a better oil. Royal Purple is expensive junk anyway.

no you didnt 'mess up', BUT~ i will agree with everyone else, you dont NEED to add lucas to RP since RP is good enough the way it is...

you just make the oil "thicker"....that means you are losing mpg.....

You really don't need that particular product. That is a good product from Lucas, but more so for large trucks and more powerful engines that get a really good benefit from it. However, as was mentioned above it won't hurt.

I can tell that I have known racers over the years who run Royal Purple and it always seems to run 'heavy.' If the car normally runs W30 they run W40, etc., so that 5W20 should run you just fine by itself. Only other kind of oil I know that is like this is my favorite, Castrol 0W30 which has the characteristics of a W40 oil.

How much of this stuff did you toss in their BTW?
