I drove my Dad's turbo 240D. Mash the throttle and wait. And wait. And wait. And OH CRAP THAT ONCOMING CAR IS GETTING CLOSE!!! And STILL WAIT MORE, and FINALLY it starts picking up some speed....
I realize modern diesels are not as slow, but good grief, I know I got 10 gray hairs just pulling out of a driveway with my foot planted on the floor.

Ah, yes. I remember driving my mom's 300D in the early 80's. I treated the gas pedal like a toggle switch, either floored or foot-off-the-gas. Sadly there was not that much difference between those two positions.

Interesting find, thanks! Here's my observation:
- It took me just 2 minutes to exclude that little parasite.
- Though I do not feel much of a difference, unless I push it really high revs. And it is rather logical - it is just ~+10% power increase without any noticeable changes in NM curve, which to my mind is the biggest disappointment of Toyota's 2.2 diesel engine. The engine is just dead until it reaches ~2krpm. - And it has not changed after the modification. Anyone has a cure for that, except mistrustful tuning-boxes?
- Could it be that the ECU must adapt a bit after the change? - As it would normally be after a remap. (some say u can feel a change only after 200-500km of both mechanical and ECU adaptation under the new conditions.
- I consider myself to be a fanatic eco-driver and follow the MPG status every second. What I noticed at once- it now consumpts 5%-10% less fuel. Will give more feedback in a week. This is my first day.
