How do you leave the radio on, after turning off car?

You would want to hit it one additional time if you are just listening to the radio. Hitting it 2 times will turn everything on, and draw a lot more power off the battery.

I knew about the pushing once with your foot off the brake but not about the neutral thing. Good find. I also noticed that after turning the car off at night (with the headlights on) the headlights don't turn off until I open the door. I thought they would use the delay timer but that doesn't appear to be the case.

i put my car in park, put down my chair. open all the windows. hit the start button to turn off the car, hit it once more w/ foot off brake to turn on sounds. and take a nap waiting for my next class to start

Yes--that's normal. Timer doesn't start until the door's opened.
