Post thinking of going with the 250 or 350

Whats up IS owners?
Well heres the deal..
Im turning 17 in two days and my dad bought me an LS430 couple months back, and i ABOSUTLY LOVE!!!! my LS.. coudnt be any happier (well yes i can if gas was cheaper lol)
So I've been thinking hard if i can trade for an IS but not sure if i want to give up my LS (SOOO!! LUXURIOUS!)
and my dad gave me approval if i wanted to

How are you guys doing with gas, like what kind of mileage you get and how satisfied are you with the IS?
Hows the performance of either the 250 or 350?
Anything you arent satisfied I should know about..
Hows the modding is it easy to get parts?

thanks everyone

350 for sure. I'm glad we went with that instead of the 250. We are coming from a 2004 M3 Cab and this little 350 has really impressed me. Not as quick of course, nor better handling, or as involving, but the IS350 will get up and go. And when you mash down on it at highways speeds it loves to go.

I'd keep the LS430, if you absolutely love it, which you do. Don't deny it -- a downgrade would suck, even if you stay with Lexus.

The IS350 will be sportier, but disappointingly less luxurious, and not as smooth and refined to drive. It may have some newer technologies, but it does not compare to the big package that the LS430 provides.

sorry but if your 17 i honestly wouldnt recomend a 350, you'll turn off the TC and wrap a pole within the first 3months... keep the LS, put Airrunner suspension and go the full VIP route with some Weds/Work or AME rims *DONT buy DUB rims*, JP bodykit and tons of JP int. accessories

Tell your dad "hey I know you'd be losing a lot of money in the switch from LS -> IS, can I have that to mod my LS instead?" You = happy camper now.

Time to get a new car...get an IS350... plus you will save on gas too... well you would have to be able to cough up like 15k assuming your 2001 LS430 has about 50k-60k miles which means its worth somewhere around $24,000

For me, I would keep the LS, but if you prefer to downgrade just to save you gas......go down to the dealer and feel for the 250 before you buy. The 250 might feel a lil' bit slower then usual. So trying out the 250 to see how you like will decide what your going to end up getting. I mean the 350 is good if your looking for power and it will save you a lil' more gas, but if you are looking to stay with Lexus and wanting to have a lot more....the 250 will do the job.

why not GS350AWD? Big bodied car (well not that big), built like a bank vault, all wheel drive, practically the same 350 motor.

I wouldn't downgrade from an LS. While the IS will handle better, the fit and finish on the LS is vastly better. I've experienced numerous rattles / noises that still haven't been completely corrected even after 7 times at the dealer. Lexus definitely took the cheap route, thinner gauge plastics on the dash, that will never equate to a quiet a car as the LS.

Whichever route you take good luck.....
