I would like to have four doors. Also at this point I have to stay with lexus since they are letting me trade my car in.

My main idea of getting the IS was to keep it for about a year then move onto the new S4.

Definitely stick with the GS. It's much more of a car than the 250. And do not worry about your age and image. Going through life caring about what others think is not going to be productive for you. If you like the car, LIKE THE CAR! Only you can make yourself happy, not others.

Stick to the GS, it’s a much more solid car than the IS, the difference in the price tag is well justified.

Yeah, stick with the GS. I traded down from a BMW530i to the IS250. While I love the 250, I miss the size and the ride of the 530i. Most importantly, though, I gave my 530i to my daughter so I didn't get hit with "dealer trade in" shock. You would likely take an absolute bath on the GS when it came time to sign the deal!
