Anyone else getting 400 miles a tank?

Well, in general, I don't think you want to do that as residue builds up at the bottom of the tank over time. As your tank gets lower, more residue/unit of fuel is sucked into your engine. Probably not as big a deal on newer cars running on decent gas, but still something to think about.

i usually get 405-409 on my trip meter after filling up. i use cruise control going to work and i have used it at 65 mph 1 week and 70 mph another. the most my tank avg said was 28.7 mpg after using on tank going 68 mph for the week. 96 mile round trip to work for me and about 85 of it is highway but i can go 50-55 on these roads at night. i dont see any difference in going around 65/70 mph than going 80-85mph. i get the same distance in every tank. i dont listen to what the tank avg says anymore. i go 80 and get 27 as i do with 70. i switch my gas up between 89 and 93 grade too.

I drive a 6MT so the gear ratio is different and I live in VA so it is very hilly.
That being the case, I've been experimenting on gas saving techniques:
1.) I found that I only need to tap the accelerator to keep the speed constant on flat ground.
2.) Cruise control does what I mentioned above but not the best gas saving technique in my area. With cruise control, I have to decelerate going up the hill and speed up coming back down so that the gas is used efficiently.
3.) In addition to adjusting speed of the cruise control on hills, the RPM should be in the power range. Otherwise, climbing the hill at 2k can waste more gas than at 3k.
From my experience, I found that staying around 2800-3200 RPM gets the best mileage regardless of the gear. With cruise control on in that RPM range, I get 30+ MPG. I could be in 5th gear driving 65 or 6th gear driving 75, I get the same (as someone mentioned previously). So I just stay in that power range and found the car to be responsive and maintain good gas mileage.
On a side note, theoretically, if you AVG 30MPG then a full tank (until empty) should last close to 500 because our tanks hold around 17 gallons.

The record in my 350 is 429 miles and the light hadn't even come on yet. Drove from my house in Coral Springs, Fl to Key West and back and then drove to work and back after the weekend. average MPG: 31.
Also, I top off.

At 27.4 MPG and a 17.1g tank, you should get 468mi/tank. If the range approx. says 10 miles, that's til 15-ish gallons, so I'm guessing you were a lot getting higher than 27.4 on the picture you took (maybe almost 30).
That or you got gas and didn't reset the trip counter

if you are really driving this way you need to have it checked out. I am getting 350+ miles off a full tank. It always tells me 330 for the approx range. Best I have done is 375 miles....
what I find interesting is my wife has a 4 banger in her TSX, car is all of a year old, and I am getting better MPG then her car does and we both drive the expressway and deal with the same ****ty traffic. ??? I cant stand the car either!
on avg with my heavy foot I am getting the same as you are in your 250?? your car is rwd isnt it?
I saw something in the news that recently a lot of people have been complaining that the gas mpg has gone down significantly on their cars. Not sure if and where it went as I dont keep up with that kind of stuff....

This past memorial day weekend, I drove down to LA from SF with a steady 60-65 avg mph. I got 387 miles before the 35 miles left gas light went on. It is possible if you drive conservatively. And I usually don't drive pass 70 if I want high mpg.
