So here's the scenario....

I bought an FRP Fabulous front lip and i'm looking at molding it to my existing front bumper. I realize that it's not recommended because of the difference in materials (FRP to plastic).

I want to bond it to the bumper so that there are no seems between the lip and the bumper. My body shop guy advised against doing this because he said that the lip will most likely crack if i ever hit a hard dip.

Can anyone verify if the "FRP" is actually slightly flexible? Or if anyone running the Fabulous lip from nextmod has had success with it?

Any help or recommendations would be much appreciated.

any time you mold using fiberglass bondo or other materials will make the car very sensitive to cracks... your frp lip is slightly flexible.. but the slight stress placed on the seam will crack the mold... molding looks great but is recommonded for show purpose only.. not daily driving.

I have this same lip on my car with it lowered and its held up just fine. I agree with is350jonny as I would not mold it for the simple reason that you want it to have some give/play if you bump or hit something. It would look good for sure but more chance for you to brake the mold down the road.

are you also lowering the car or have you already??

Appreciate everyone's feedback on this. I have my car lowered on the prokit w/ 19's already. I guess I will just stick with mounting it and save the bonding for other parts like spoilers and rear kits.

As everyone else says, molding fiberglass to plastic isn't a great idea. It will crack; I've seen it crack on many cars that had it done. As an aside, my wife used to have an Acura Integra that had a full kit molded on there (show car). Not the greatest idea to mold a front bumper on there considering the car was a daily driver. After a while of driving, the front bumper cracked at a seam. So we ended up unmolding the front bumper when we did a color change on the car.

It looks great, but it's just not practical unless you don't drive the car much.

bad idea...you will eventually hit it or scrape it no matter how careful you are and the seams will show where you tried to mold it. Trust this is coming from years of experience with front lips.

**** my Fab lip I just installed on Thursday already has a lil scrape mark on the underside from driveways over the weekend.
