So, why does this cost $300 bucks?

Let’s break it down....
1 CNC billet aluminum adapter piece, costs about $50 to manufacture which only moves the shifter pivot point down about an inch and a half, your not actually replacing the shifter
2 stainless steel set screws, costs about $1.50 each from any hardware store
1 stainless steel sleeve bushing, costs about $.25 from above mentioned hardware store
1 stainless steel dowel pin, another whopping $.50
1 Tube of black RTV, or "Toyota Seal Packing", about $3.50 from the same hardware store
1 Can of spray lube, $1.50 from hardware store

So, $58 bucks and I have the same thing. Where is the other $242 dollars going to and please don’t say engineering? There is nothing to engineer on this, its simple math, move the pivot point down and your shift throw will be shorter, Duh.

Honestly, anyone can make this with a few parts from the "hardware store" mentioned above and save about $275 bucks. Or go to a machine shop and have them make one out of aluminum. This will cost more because of CAD time and all, but it wont be $300 dollars.

Another crazy idea would be to take out the stock shifter, cut off the bottom pivot point and add on an extension to it, have it all welded back together for only a few dollars at any place that has a TIG welder.

Just a thought.

Dont get me wrong, I think the short shifter is a good product and the Lexus Fsport producs look like very high quality parts, but everything that they are selling is way over priced for what it is. $300 dolars for a short shifter is way to much. If it was around 100-150 I would get one.

While on this subject,

Why does the lexus.com show the F-Sport quick shifter with a nicer shift ****, but I've never seen any posts from anyone mentioning that the shift **** is also included? So is it included or not?

Thanks.

Ok thanks. I hope the small ball-shaped **** is the one that comes on the sport package. The reason why I've never seen it before is because I test drove a manual base-model, and from what I can recall, the shift **** in the base model was all black with no chrome, and looked taller and uglier.
