Gernby- does my age really matter? I am a car guy and modding is something makes me happy and is hobby of mine. The reason why I got pulled over is because the cops think I was at this Thursday night meet they have every Thursday in a shopping complex. I was driving by on the road in front of it and the cops were posted there waiting for people to leave. I guess they saw my car and one of the motorcycle cops decided it would be my lucky day.
To make matters worse, some guy cut me off by driving on the wrong side of the road and was flying. He got pulled over, but they let him go with a warning. I know it was a warning because he was pulled over right in front of me and was parked for 2 mins.

Age has nothing to do with this...I just recently was pulled over for the 2nd time for tinted windows in my state. I was targeted in a group of cars in the middle of rush traffic early am. I suppose it was okay for the state trooper to EXCEED the speed limit (cut off a few others) to pull me over for Tinted Windows?? I was not going over the limit and in the middle of traffic? I also have a doctors note (medical condition) so its legit to have them!! Sometimes I do feel, regardless of age, the law enforcement makes some uncalled for and unsafe decisions. The smart *** look I got the whole time we talked and the "check" of my car when I have a front plate and I am with in state specs including my windows for medical reason.
Most of the cars I see in my state are BMW/Benz/ect...with middle age or older drivers with the windows tinted. So its not an age thing IMO.
To the OP I was reading a thread in the Perfomance Section that combfilter posted that shows your exhaust is lower then 95db? I would check it out and get some more info from HKS or off there site. Looks like you are okay there....The intake I think you will need to remove it as many are not CARB certified.

Speaking as a young black male... yes profiling does happen... but personally I am glad it happens... cause I don't want to live in a PC world where the obvious has to be obscured and second guessed while someone's life could potentially be endanger because the cop has to stop and think about lawsuits and being fired.... nevermind the food they has to put on the table for his or her own kids...
Don't forget cops work their beat day in and day out.... do you ever stop to think how many times they have scene you and done nothing? You can't win for losing being a cop. And nevermind the individuals who are guilty of profiling and or stereotyping all cops as the same. Irony much?

If I could have I would have had it out with this person but I know I am better then that and I also know I would be in jail for something so stupid. I have a clean record and nothing to hide and being treated like I was a little kid for someone's amusement I have an issue with. Yes its illegal to have "TINTED" front windows in IL. I do not have BLACKED out windows so I am not asking for extra attn. I have no issues when I am pulled over and they do there job and check. I again do have a medical condition that has required me for years to have this on my windows. I have had this a few times in the past but never once was I treated the way I was a few weeks back. I had medical info and papers in Black & White with recent visits to the doctor to show I am up to date and on top of things?? I was told that it meant nothing and I need to get better sunglasses?? Funny I wear sunglasses along with the Tint and still have trouble on some days?!?!? But she knows whats best for me and my family?
There was a right way and a wrong way to handle and deal with this situation. The funny part of this whole thing is I was headed to a seminar for work on discrimination and all that stuff.
Okay I am sure you get the point. I agree here if you are doing something wrong and get caught then deal with it. But sometimes that is not the case. yes the OP has a loud exhaust but what I read in combfilter's post in the performance section shows the db is lower then 95 and that is what the state is asking for?? So the OP was pulled over for no reason other then to be harassed? IMO regardless of age there was NO reason for the OP to get pulled over in the first place with all the info I am reading!

okay where just fine than you for checking! We where both lucky to be alive and I get harassed, is that your dads car, I was in tears that my car was totaled. Then i get a breathalizer put in my mouth with out any questions?? I had no worries but was pretty upset with how they did that....its pouring rain out side and he would not let this gal sit in the back of his car. He runs all my info and finds out its my car and everything I told him was true...then wants to be buddy buddy with me and tells me he pulled over some guy in a 911 a few days back okay what does this have to do with me?? then he asks how fast I have had it haha...I don't know what ever the speed limit is in that area. Too much traffic around here to speed officer! So its like 3am or so by now....he takes off for some emergency and said he called in a tow truck? we sat out side in the rain for ever....then it took this guy over an hour to figure out how to pull my car out. I was like its done just hook the tow up and pull it...then we are not allowed in his tow truck? so this gal calls her dad to pick us up ugh...and all I hear on the way back to get my other car was that he had to pay a few dollars in tolls to get us I was like your daughter could have died and you are worried about a few dollars. I passed my IPASS to her and said her put it on the window when we go through. Its on me

Again, nobody has implied that age had anything to do with this ticket. Age was only brought up because of the attitude of the OP.

BTW, there really are wonderful sunglasses available that would allow you to drive without tinted front windows. Those same sunglasses would allow others to drive your car safely at night since you could have an untinted front windshield.

Brian & Joneser...I didn't mention this and I do not think I have told Brian about it. about 7 years back I totaled a NSX on I88 at about 2 am heading down town with some gal. We were in the car as it was raining and the windows where so DARK you couldnt see anything. he walked around the car then went back to his car okay where just fine than you for checking! We where both lucky to be alive and I get harassed, is that your dads car, I was in tears that my car was totaled. Then i get a breathalizer put in my mouth with out any questions?? I had no worries but was pretty upset with how they did that....its pouring rain out side and he would not let this gal sit in the back of his car. Man that sucks, I hate cops like that. When I got hit, the dude looked at my car, and looked at me like I am too young to be able to pay for it... he walks over to the middle aged lady, both of them looked at me like I'm some young punk who cares too much about my car, and then started chatting with her. A bit later he tells me he cant determind fault so I gotta deal it up with her... how can I be at fault when I wasnt even in the drivers seat

I was about to post the same dam thing! Harleys are disgustingly loud.
What happen to the decimal level the officers religiously go by to give you that fixie ticket? Why does it not apply to the harleys, cuz it rolled out from the plant that way? Its a freaking double standard!

A lot of people have their mods because they want to push the limits of legality, maybe as some demonstrated form of non-conformity. You got mods that are barely legal (or illegal) cuz you are a rebel and nobody tells you what to do, and then complain about it when it turns out somebody actually CAN tell you what to do?
Come to think of it, wouldn't you be insulted if cops permitted your setup, meaning that you weren't pushing the envelope enough?

I don't think the law is what stops most people from modding their car the same way I don't think those modding are really encouraged it, just punished. The war on mods is the same as the war on drugs. Modding is addicting.
I will give you though that most people do try to stand out with their mods and that part of the thrill comes from that. That said, as the laws get tighter and the cops get smart I am being more careful. No intake thats not CARB legal, tint thats too dark, and exhaust thats too loud. There is one law with which I am habitual line stepper(lol). I never run front plates, it ruins the cars looks imo and I pay the fine everytime.
