Need help - no sound out of my new subwoofer
I just installed a 500W mono amplifer to a single 12" subwoofer. i am not getting sound and am having trouble figuring out why.
i have 12V on the power wire, turn on is ~6.5V, and the ground is in place. the amp turns on but nothing out of the sub. i should note the light on the front of the amp flickers slightly when it's on.
i double checked the equipment by putting both in a friends car, and they both work jsut fine. i'm thinkign its either the 6.5V for the turn on, a bad ground, or something wrong with the signal wire tapping. i did try running 12V for the remote turn on straight from the power - still no luck.
i didnt have t-tap connectors (didnt know about them when i started), so i was splicing into the wires and soldering them onto the LOC...slightly mess job.
can anyone help? is there a way to check the signal out of the LOC, or even into the LOC?

the LOC i have is strange..there are two screws you turn to adjust the left and right channel gain. i have twisted both of them, the only problem is that they screws can just keep twisting in cirlces.

the poewr is 12v, thats coming from the battery, the remote wire that i tap into only gives 6.5v. but i bypassed that and took it from the 12v source just to eliminate that problem for now.

^^is the power at the amp adequate?? If you have a voltage meter I would check. In past experience even if you ran from the battery you may not get enough power to make that amp happy. You may possible need a CAP to help out? Just throwing out ideas.
What kind of amp is it? Is it relatively new?
Here is what you should read at the amp: (11V-14.5V) 500 W RMS @ 1.5 ohm - 4 ohm (this should be comparable to what you are doing.

Okay so you have power.
I would say the next step is to go back and check the wires? maybe where you used solder it didn't work? did you test the stuff before you solder the wires together? simply twisting the wires and the rest to make sure all works, ect...
do you have ML? and where are you getting the feed from for the input on the amp? can you take any pics for us and post them up?
