You've got MOLD! Probably from moisture off the condenser. THere's a lot of fixes. The ones I vaguely remember are:

1. Run heat full blast for 10 minutes
2. Spray Febreze/oust in the base windshield with the heat on full blast and defrost front?
3. Turn the A/C off 3-5 minutes before you reach your destination.

Combine 1-3 at discretion.

As Meefer says, it is mold or a bacteria.

You can buy sanitizers for this. Have the aircon on full, vacate the car and set the can off in one of the footwells.

HERE is one I've used in the past and it worked great.

Yeah I had this problem as well, complained to lexus about it during my 15,000 mile service and they went ahead and fixed it. No smell now.

meefer is right:
1. Run full heat on HI for a while.
2. Spray Lysol in the vents at the base of windsheild.

the trick to avoid this problem is flushing out the AC before you shutdown the car.

usually a few miles away i turn off the AC, set the vent to fresh air, and blast on high.

Default here's your solution

Purchase this product or one simular (pepboys or Kragens). You have to locate a drain tube on the underside of your car. You will see it on the passenger side around where the dash area is. Remember under your car. Insert the tube into the drain hose and empty the contents. This will force the solution to fill up the area were the a/c evaporator sits in the blower motor housing. Afterwards remove the tube and let it drain out. Works perfect!!!!

Can you post pics of the location of the drain tube?

O.K. here is where your drain tube is.... First turn your steering wheel all the way to the left...that will kick out the back of your tire(right side/passenger wheel). Then you should already see a black tube about 2-3 in long sticking out from your fender well area again looking at.(right side/passenger wheel). If you look at your wheel as a "clock" then the tube is pointing down fron the fender area at 10 o'clock. That is where your drain tube is. That allows the condensation build up to exit while using your A/C. Very simple!!! ever noticed water dripping from there time to time??? Good Luck... your results should prove favorable!!!!!!
