Default Has my car been in an accident?

I recently purchased a used IS350 from a dealership. They said that the car has not been involved in any accidents, and the carfax is clear; but there is an unusually large gap in front of the hood where a lot of rubber is showing. Is this a sign of an accident or just misplacement of the rubber in between the hood and bumper?

Larger jpeg pics are not loading once clicked on. I would open up the hood and look for overspray or see if the white serial number sticker is posted underneath or on any adjacent panels. Did you run a Carfax? May simply have a new hood if that. Probably no worries.

there is also the case were cars are damaged during transport. may be another concern.

did you buy the car used? if you did ask the dealership for a CarFax report.

I am gonna have to say yes. Look at the corner of the headlight it has some scrapes. The corner of the hood looks like some paint was chipped off.

Keep in my there has to be a DMV report filed before it will show up on the carfax. they didnt file a report then it will show clear. It might have hit a wall and not reported it.

based off the last pic I will say yes. Look at the corner of the light and how its sits farther back then the plastic molding of the bumper/front fascia. I would have the car looked at just to make sure.

thats normal.. when someone did a hit and run on me i thought my front bumper was made poorly (new bumper from lexus..) but its because i took off the rubber piece(removed my grill at the time)theres a hugeee gap between the hood and bumper... its perfectly normal as i compared it to every single IS on the lot at lexus.

It's normal. I'm glad I got a black car as it's much more noticeable on white or light colored paint. I think the right side is more normal than the left. The rubber shouldn't be so hidden unless it was malformed or the hood was closed in a way that pinched the rubber. While it's ugly, it act as a seal for the hood.
