Hey peeps,
I bought a pair of D4s 8000k HID bulbs for my IS250 Awd about a month or so ago. I got them and love the bluish color that it emitted. After a week or so the drivers side bulb would go out after a little bit of driving, and I would have to manually turn on my lights to get it back up again, then I could go back to the auto feature for the lights.
Xenon Depot was great with me and suggested I switch the bulbs to the other side as it may be a voltage issue in my car. This solved the bulb problem. (note: They also suggested to change the ballasts, but I have no clue how to do that.)
But now I have another issue. Before I switched the bulbs and after, I notice that I no longer have that bluish color to my bulbs, they now seem just white. It is blue for a few moments when just starting, but then they go white.
Any ideas? Any suggestions?
before pic. as u can see, the passenger light is a little whitish.

The ballast is the box that is plugged from the bulb to the car.
HID's most of the time take a little time to warm up, so initially it can start off really blue and then go back to a white color with a blue hue. If it doesnt look like 8K anymore, then maybe you have some defective bulbs..

If you want a blue color, then 10K is the way to go. its blue! but i dont recommend it because you will be losing a lot of light output and can be dangerous to drive around with, also cops will most likely pull you over too.
As the gases begin run out on the bulbs, i believe the HID bulbs get whitter/yellower

This is an interesting thread - I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced a similar issue with their 6000K or 8000K bulbs. There are plenty of people on ClubLexus with aftermarket lighting, so we should be able to get an idea if this is a fluke or a "bad batch" or bulbs.
I've got 6000K lowbeams on my car with no discoloration issues, but I've only had them for two weeks.

i personally find "cheap bulbs" to be just as good as expensive bulbs. The only thing I find with cheap bulbs is the amount of time it takes for them to warm up. Other than that, they're the same unless they're a rebased bulb or seriously cheap. of course I'm going to be doing a test soon with the fog lights by getting an HID kit for a mere $21
If it doesn't work, who cares lol

I wouldnt call them fake, but i heard that D4S bulbs are hard to make and hard to have a consistent color/output. I would much rather buy more expensive bulbs have the satisfaction of having a warranty and product support when you need it.
But if cheaper bulbs work and you have no problems, then why change whats good already right
