SELL . . . SELL . . . SELL! No brainer. Why pay interest for somethign you can't touch or use. Besides, if you invest the money in Japan well and then come home with 3 years of money growth PLUS the increased value of the Yen over the Dollar, you will be WAY ahead. Make your money work for YOU and not sitting in storage earning interest for a bank. Good Luck in Japan.

Except that interest rates in Japan are virtually zero, and the stock market there is dead... Given how low the dollar is already, betting that in 3 years it'll be even worse is pretty bold. Possible, but very speculative.

Sell it....its not a car worth storing IMO...go buy an exotic car and store that then have something to look forward to when you get back

Definitely sell it. While it's still a relatively "new" design today, it won't be in three years. You'll likely want whatever is newer at the time.

The car will be worth a lot less in 3 years. Sell it now. And buy something again in 3 years. Hell, you could even buy a used 08 IS350

I want to sell it and I know I will lose out on it but that's fine. Now if I happen to sell it, I will need to find me a car to drive to work til I leave in December. Damn, it's alot harder than I thought....

I agree with everybody above about paying interest on something that will continue depreciating while in storage, but there is also the cost of storage itself. How much would that cost for 3 years? Then you also have to consider the fact that sitting in storage for a long time isn't good for cars. Your battery, A/C system, tires, oil seals, etc. will degrade over those 3 years.

On Kelly Blue Book, it doesn't have the 2008 model for me to check. It doesn't have "Lexus" as an option when selecting 2008. So I went with 2007 for an estimate. How much of a difference will a 2008 model be from a 2007?

I fully agree. The norm for storing classic, exotics, and expensive cars for a long period is usually done by putting them up on jacks in a temperature & humidity controlled environment and monitored regularly. It is usually a very expensive proposition.... based on my own experience. There are companies who will do it for you.

SELL IT!!!! Even if you are upside down $10K you will save more than that in the payments that you won't be making on a car you can't drive. Not to mention the $10K+ it will depreciate while you are gone.
