I've purchased the 3000K HID kit from Xexon Depot about 8-9 months ago, I haven't had any issues with them. I say go with the 3000K HID conversion kit it looks good on a black car.

how different are they from overlays?

it would remind you of the is300 lights. it looks better with the overlay but it hated the scratches.
