Default Daytime Running Lights (DRL) question

I've done a lot of research here about changing out the DRL's but can't really find what I'm looking for.

I want to change my DRL's to closely match my HID's. I use my highbeams so I don’t want to sacrifice them for LED's (since LED's don't produce that much power). What type/brand of lights would be best for this? I’m guessing using super whites?

I dont think you can. The proper high beam at lower watt is your DRL (which is that nasty amber color)....if you change it out to get rid of that nasty DRL color and try to match the rest of the headlight assembly, i think you lose your high beam.
or you can just have the DRL disabled completely but i think you still have your highbeam of course...

Ask llama (judd). I could be wrong, he'll help you.

But wait, you can't have your DRL on the same time as your lows. Our cars do have bi-xenon which there's a shutter in the projector that angles the low beams up more so if you go LED route then you'll just be using that as your highs. Or you can do what Mliaison said and turn off your DRL all together. But most dealerships don't wanna do that though...

both are correct. I took the high beams out and it really didnt make much of a different. I have PIAA extreme whites and it actually makes the highs little yellow compared to the xenon!

Just leave your headlights in the "on" position...

Just want the DRL's as white as possible without switching to LED's. I guess I would have to get the LED's for this to become white as possible and sacrifise the High Beams...
Not sure what type to get or what I'm suppose to be looking for when I buy these.

your not going to sacrifice the high beams when you put LED on if you have Xenon. We have a bi-xenon which means it is a 2 part beam one for low and one for high when it projects.

This says "Fog": http://cgi.ebay.com/2pcs-HB3-9005-Fo...713.m153.l1262

I'm assuming these will work for the DRL's as well?

Yes, its what i currently run, just remember that warden_jp2002 is in HK so it'll take a couple of wks to get to you, ive had mine since last yr and its still running fine. Also Vleds also has a couple of 9005 LED bulbs as well.

So I replace my DRL's with HB3 9005 Fog and they look alright. Now I'm trying to get some info on matching my city lights with the stock HID bi-xenon. You guys think this will match closely?

Ok, so what if I want to swap out the nasty stock DRL's for white bulbs of the same size instead of LED's? Whch brand should I go with? If I do that, will the high beams still work? Sorry, I'm such a lighting noob...

if you want to match as close as possible you'll want the 5smt, the 11smt will be alittle brighter but wont match as well as the 5, the 19+ bulbs will just give 3 different color lites low/parking/fog... there are those here who do run the 'bigger is better' leds but... they dont match at all...

no, doesnt matter what 'regular' bulb you switch too you'll still get the nasty yellow drl, dont waste money, if you really still want your hibeams w/o the yellow you have only 1 option, get the dealer to turn off the drl.
