Default Rear Head Rest Leather=Crap

Has anyone ever looked at how hard your rear headrest leather is??? I never noticed it because my car is garaged 90% of the time. Even with the few times a week it sees sun, the leather is hard on the back side compared the the front. I have no tint so that makes the UV exposure worse.

I noticed this because my cousins car is outside 100% of the time and his leather is beyond treatment. the back of the head rest is as hard as plastic now and the cars only 1 1/2 years old.

It might not be leather! Parts of the seats are not leather like the sides. The main area that are sat are leather.

I doubt that its supposed to be hard leather/vinyl on the back side of the headrest and soft on the front side when its all one piece. I suspect that the rear headrest are vinyl anyways and that the sun exposure just kills it.

My car sits in the outside 95% of its life and with no tint. I condition it with leather conditioner every 2 months and it still looks good. Although I have a cashmere interior.

Yeah I condition it once every few weeks specially taking care of the areas that are constantly exposed to sun and they are still pretty darn soft even after almost a whole year of constantly being in the sun every day.

Try to apply a thick layer of leather conditioner on the headrests and let it absorb, wipe off the extra the next day or so and it'll soften the leather. I did that to all my cars and it works. If it's really bad you just have to repeat it several times.

its not just the rear head rest, my diver seat has it just over the left shoulder. a small patch thats hard and somewhat wrinkled. conditioning doesnt help either. blah i learned to live with it since i dont look at it all the time and its not noticable unless touched
