Default Got my new IS350.....LOVE IT!!!

So, after debating for months on which car to get, I went with the 2008 LExus IS350 white pearl with black interior....and I love it....
all i can say about the car is positive. to begin with its a lexus = reliability.... it looks great, it can be moded (unlike some cars in this class or price range)
My other option was the BMW 335i...and I know its faster and "more fun"... however I have researched for months and asked around, became member of forums all over and found that the car is not reliable as i'd like it to be... so its "not so fun" when the car needs to be fixed all the time.
So in the end I went for the lexus IS350 brand new...I thought it was better getting a fully loaded IS for $5,000 less than a (completly stock with only leather) 335i. Plus the 335i sedan looks like SEEHT. (coupe looks awesome).

I have to say I am impressed, the car runs lower 5's from 0-60, with some mods in a good day the car can definitely run upper 4's (all i need for right now in my life) the ergonimics are AWESOME, the car feels tight while being comfortable...the finish of the interior with navigation its amazing... heated, ventilated cooled seats, rear view camera, 18inch wheels with potenza's, 13 speaker sound, rear wing spoiler, wood trim interior (classy).....
Handling is very precise, not as much as the 335i, but I have never gone to a track and I dont plan on goning anytime soon. So the only thing the 335i has (to me) over the IS is that it handles better and its a tad faster (this is stock 335i, with any mods this car is crazy fast)....

You cant really compare these in performance, because the 335i is designed on the track and the IS is designed to be a fast luxury sports sedan...
but from a value, business stand point, I believe the IS is a better buy. its more reliable and you get more for less money... For the options that i have on the IS I would have had to pay 50 grand for the 335i, when I only paid 38,500 for my Fully loaded IS350.
Thanks to all the info on this forum I already know what are my first mods plan on installing a Tanabe axleback exhaust with a MEgan racing mid-pipe, and Intake...this should bring me close to low 13's on the 1/4 mile....

Edit:

Listen..I feel you on the better buy because the Lexus has all the gadgets...and will most likely never give you a headache. I had my IS350 for a little over a yr. Exhaust, Coilovers, Wheels..etc..It was a great daily driver..but didn't give me the sense of WOW. I couldn't beat on the Lexus as much as I pounded my BMW. I had an 08 E92 335 Coupe..ECU, Coilovers, BBS's..the whole thing. WAY different car to compare. The only problem I had with the BMW in 1yr, was that it ate a lot of oil..them damn turbo's!

Even with those mods to the IS350...don't think by adding a couple of mods will increase the 0-60 by that much man. I'm not trying to rain on your parade...but it just wont.

But all the rest of your post is kind of..... lame. First of all, the 335i is NOT faster than the IS350. It depends on what speeds you are talking about. From stand still to quarter mile and upto 125 mph the IS350 can stay in the lead. The 335i needs time to catch up. If the 335i driver is lucky he might catch you by the time you hit 125 mph. AFTER that the 335i will slowly overtake. How many times will you be doing 125~ 145+ mph? Do you have the room for this? Isn't it too dangerous? You would want to care more about 0 to quarter mile. So the IS350 wins. Otherwise there is no need for you go with any of the vehicles. Just go get the C6 Corvette Z06. That'll get you good triple digit speed accelerations. Oh and you don't need mods to make the IS350 go upper 4 seconds in the 0-60. The "STOCK" IS350 will put you 4.9 sec or better in the quarter mile if you launch it right.

I don't like this thread at all..

.
Same driver, same day, same track, same conditions http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do.../pageId=124138 Clearly, the BMW is the faster car.

Congrats!

Nice decision, you won't be disappointed.

May I add, get yourself a clear bra, it's the best first
investment you can make for this car ;]

3M or Venture Shield all the way

ROAD AND TRACK LEXUS IS350 4.9 seconds 0-60 time
here it is:
http://www.lexus.com/models/IS/reviews.html

BMW has some intangibles that may suit you better...
I've just seen way too many sensor, and stupid problems that cost a bunch of money for the 335i. twin turbo is awesome. but really how much faster is it stock???
Lexus has better resale.
these cars are made for different interests. and different people...

Other magazines such as Road & Track obtained 13.5 sec @ 104+ mph in the quarter mile. That's with the fat *** driver and 90F hot weather. With better conditions the IS350 would be pulling 13.30~ 13.45 sec, as demonstrated by many IS350 drivers out there. I don't get too horny with the magazine numbers so I(and many others) prefer drag strip racing.

Drag Strip Times for "Stock" vehicles.

IS350
13.228 sec @ 105 mph
http://www.dragtimes.com/Lexus--IS350-Drag-Racing.html

335i
13.230 sec @ 104 mph
http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW--335i-D...l?resultpage=3

Also, it's funny to see every single drag strip video clips I have seen the IS350 beats the 335i. The launch is more favored on the IS350. The 335i is harder to launch. You have to make perfect launch and make no mistakes on the 335i to get dead even with the IS350.

.
I do think that Edmunds is Biased towards BMW.
I have seen all those videos on youtube....These cars are so close that the best launch out of the two will win...

For those who......please READ the whole thread before you start talking.
thanks

I have a Vector FX2....as soon as i break in my car I will use it to measure my 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.
Ive used this device on g35's, 5-series, mazdas, even pathfinders and its pretty accurate.
I have gone to the track and the times of the vector FX are less than .1 sec away from those on the track time slip.

Congrats on your new toy. Whether or not the BMW is "that" much faster then the Lexus. There are more reasons you bought this car than just speed alone. Welcome and have fun!!!
