yeah, though in your case you're special ordering, outside of CA, pretty loaded. In general, you can get over $4K off on in stock cars in competitive markets.
Break down the sports package into its components and see if the sum of the parts is really worth it for you. You're special ordering anyway. Really just go for the stuff you want.

It sort of looked like a good deal to me hmmm i'm confused now.....
I checked on KBB.com and it showed $46,757 as the MSRP , ($40,354 invoice) which equals to $4260 off MSRP for the NY area.

IMO that quote is still on the high side. counter-offer w/ invoice. at worst, float the price range at somewhere around $45k OTD, which is probably $41k + TTL...

Hi All,
Writing from the Washington DC Metro area ... I'm looking to special order an '07 IS 250 RWD Auto. The car will have the luxury package (LT), NAVI and ML package (VN) ... along with a spoiler (LR) and headlight washer (HW). I'm getting it in Tungston Pearl, with a black interior ... the MSRP is $40,800. I'm special ordering it for $35,140 plus tax, etc. It's $5,249 off MSRP ... $1,200 over invoice, plus 1.75% dealer advertising fee (which comes out to $550) ... for a total of $36,890 plus taxes, tags, etc.
What do you think of that deal?

That does not sound like a great deal at all. There is some funny math going on here between the amount off MSRP and the final sale price. Just ask to get the net discount to be AT LEAST $5K and let the dealer work out for himself what his invoice and advertisement fee is.
In a competitive market, $1200 over invoice on a 250 RWD is very rich. Not to mention that invoice probably included the bogus advertisement charge. Make sure they are not counting that twice on you too.

i think u should aim way lower since you getting an RWD. im ordering an is250 AWD w/ Luxary Package, Navigation, Preferred Accessories, floor mats for $34,847. MSRP is is 40,501 and the invoice is 35,351. So i think i got a good deal.

I re-ran the numbers, and came up with the following:
The MSRP is $40,800.
The invoice is $35,495 ($5,305 less than MSRP)
The BJs company then charges $1,200 profile, and $550 advertising fee.
Therefore, the total for the car is $37,245 plus tax, tags, etc.
So, my discount from MSRP is $3,555.
This is their no-haggle price ... for a special order vehicle. I haven't found a dealer in the DC area that would be willing to get me this car cheaper.

Does anyone have any dealer friends in Cali that would be willing to sell me the IS 250 RWD Auto w/ Lux package and ML/NAVI at invoice??
I've looked at shipping quotes, and they run about $700 ... so I'd still be saving over $1,000. Let me know ... please!

Instead of BMWs European Delivery, think of it as CA delivery. The only issue is the in-stock vs. special order thing... No dealer in your home area will be willing to serve as a gateway for a car another dealer sold you, and vice versa.
Still, for at least a $1200 saving, worth a trip out to CA.
