Hmmmm........... a very interesting thread. So people say they are getting brand new 2008 Lexus cars for invoice or under? Kelly blue book and Edmunds state that these cars are selling for $100 - $400 under MSRP and their data are based on a variety of reliable sources (incluiding, but not limited to, sales tax records, registration records, etc). So either the people on this forum are a very selected and non-representative sample of the general population, or...........................
Scans of sales invoices would be a great help!

That's true, almost all dealers here in the Bay Aera that I sent an email inquiry to responded that they would be willing to do invoice + TTL, and that's without going in and haggling a little bit more.
Which dealer do you plan to go to Extreme?

I actually might go down to pleasanton Lexus tomorrow to work out a deal. Think pushing below 32,500 +TTL is possible? If not Mag Lexus in Fremont and then steven creeks
(there all asking about the same price)

Stevens Creek offered me 32300 initially but I don't think pushing it below would be as much possible, unless if you really want to test their limits. Instead I think you'd more likely try and bargain for other goodies such as extra accessories or a deal on the extended warranty rather than taking off another 100 or 200 off their price. Also, I found it funny that they wouldn't give me one of those Christmas bows because apparently they cost 500 bucks and they rent them from a company...lol
Talked to Neil from Magnussen and he wasn't willing to match 32500. Didn't talk to Pleasanton but good luck with them

woooohoooo !!!!
Just got my IS350 today 12/27/2007 at Cerritos.
MSRP is $43322, it is smokey/black with Navigation, Premium Package, XM radio, rear spoiler, preferred accessory package. The sale manage claimed the invoice is $381XX (I forgot the exact number, but he did print out a list with this number on it. I just checked it on KBB, and the invoice there says $37715). Got the price down to $37k. Then they tried to sell me the extended warranty, etc, and at the end, I got the Lojack with 20% off (I think the regular price is $79X, got down to $63X) because I will get discount from my insurance. My final total out of the door price is $409XX (7.75% tax).
So I am getting about $715 below invoice according to KBB, or $11XX below invoice according to the sale person.
Overall, if you are happy with the deal you get, don't sweat it.
My little advice to those who are still hunting. The trick is, you must be willing to walk out of dealership at anytime (before you sign any papers of course). Tried to email as many dealership as you can and get a quote from them either thru the phone or email (email is better because you have something written). Tried to get the VIN number of the car if it's in stock, this will make them think you are serious to get the car, and also you can use that VIN number later for bargaining at the dealership (more on that later). When getting the quote thru email/phone, don't reveal how you'll pay off the car, just tell them it shouldn't affect the price of the car (One guy actually said how you pay off the car affects the price b/c of tax and stuff, then I told him just give me the price BEFORE tax =P ). At the end of the email/phone process, you should have at least 2 or 3 deals at your hand before you go to the dealership. As for me, I got one deal at $37980, with navigation, premium package and X-package, and another deal at $37557, with navigation, premium package, XM radio and spoiler.
At the dealership, bring out the VIN number of the car from another dealership and keep saying how you like the other car more. For me, I didn't really care about the X-package, but I kept saying I prefer the X-package and I don't want the XM radio and spoiler, then I said, if you can get it down to $37k, I will take the car. At first, they reply with the price $37157, then I actually got up and walk off, then the sale person stopped me and settled at $37k.
Now if you actually want the X-package, you must do the opposite. Bring out the VIN number of the car with the XM radio and spoiler and keep saying how you like XM radio and spoiler and so on...
Alright, I know it's a little too long to read, but I guess I am kinda excited now because of my new baby. Peace out and good luck hunting for your Lexus =)

MSRP Was about $36k. Was able to get $2500 off. Since this was my second car I was able to learn from my mistakes. When I bought my 2005 VW GTi the car was about $35k. And the dealer couldn't give me anything. They didn't even tell me or even check the car and tell me there was some interior defects. I should of checked inside and ask for a lower price. Well....since it was my first time buying a carI basically paid the MSRP with the Dealer Markup. So basically when I was at the Lexus dealership I was surprised they were able to give me anything. Being it was a luxury car and they didn't have any Dealer Markups.

Wow wawawa, I am truly envious of your deal! I am in Texas and the best anyone will do for an IS350 is 1000 above invoice, and even for that I have to drive the car back to Houston from Dallas (250 miles).

I live in New York and just bought my IS 250 AWD from a Long Island dealer. Below is the spec:
2008 IS 250 AWD
- Z1 Cargo net, wheel lock, trunk mat
- HL HID headlamps
- NV Navigation System
- PT Premium Package
MSRP $39340.00
I paid $35205.00 before tax and excluding other license plate registration fee and inspection fee.
The invoice price is different at various sites. edmund.com has $33607.00 (no price on Z1). kbb.com has $34499.00. nadaguides.com has $34404.00 . So the invoice price is around $34500.00.
I basically paid $805 above the invoice price, that is around $4100.00 below MSRP with a good 5.9% rate for 24 months, currently most banks offer 6.6% or more.
Most dealers will try to push you to get 60 months car loan, the longer you have, the more interest you will need to pay, and the more incentives they will receive from the banks.
They will tell you you will be paying a lot more interest at the beginning if you do short terms like 24 months. That is true but the reality is you will always be paying interest from the beginning along with principle disregarding the number of months on your car loan. It is the total interest that you will end up paying at the end that matters. You need to look at the total cost for the ownership of the vehicle after all. There may also be prepayment penalties apply if you pay up your car loan early than the projected terms. So read all fine prints before signing anything.
Please feel free to let me know if my deal was good/acceptable or not.

I'm not sure what sort of discount I can get but I get mine off-lease so the savings can be very substantial. I'm 90% ready to pull the trigger on a 07 IS350 that way. Not exactly loaded, but has heated seats so wife will like it.

The difference between the invoice and MSRP was $4,000. I offered them $1,000 over the invoice, or 3% over. Maybe I could have gone lower, but they accepted my first offer, since the Costco discount was at $2,000 over invoice, and I got them down another $1000.
Not bad I guess.
Mine is IS250 AWD, with Nav and Accessory Pkg.
