Default What is up with my stock HID????????????

I know this topic has been discussed before but now it's became aggravating. Before my passenger headlight would turn off by itself once in a while, if I notice it, i'll flip the switch off and on again and it would be okay. Lately it turn off by itself a lot more often, almost every night. I got pulled over last night because the cop thought I was driving with one non working headlight. I didn't get a ticket for it since I would turn it off and then it'll come back on again. Is it the bulb that is bad or the ballast itself? Anyone got any ideas?

Happened to me about a month ago:

Replaced under warranty. Dealer said it was a bad bulb. Both HIDs still match, although one is new and the other is 1.5 years old.

it could be a bad bulb (most likely), bad ballast or bad wiring. Whichever it is, go to the dealer and have them replace it for free. While you're there, take a stroll checking out all the cars, grab the free food/drinks if they offer it and get a car wash if you want (though I recommend not to unless you know your dealer's wash won't put scratch marks on your car. I know mine doesn't).

I would take it to the dealer but i'm at 52k miles, isn't the warranty expired after 50k?

ya, unless you bought the extended warranty, 52k puts you past the bumper to bumper warranty. i'd try swapping the bulbs first, just to figure out if its the bulbs that are bad or the ballasts. if its the bulbs, you can easily buy replacement bulbs online. if its ballasts, you're gonna need to get the dealer to replace those.

Time to upgrade to some nice 6000k bulbs. On another note aren't these bulbs supposed to last much longer than 50k miles???

This also happened to Passnu2's 350 while we stood in front of it with his HID's on and he simply replaced the bulbs to 6000k 4 days prior. May be a surge in the OEM ballast that needs to be a TSIB possibly. I am not sure if one currently exists.

oh crap, so it seem like it's the ballast problem since his bulbs are new. I'm going to try to disable the AFS feature to see if the problem still persist. I know the AFS system draw a bit of current but it doesn't hurt to try.

Default same problem

I'm having the same issue with my passenger side light too. I turned the AFS off too and it helped for a bit but it still goes out.

Does anyone know exactly whats going on bc it seems like it happening to a few ppl.

Hmm happened to me with my aftermarket. The guy replaced the ballast as it was under warranty.

A little off topic if you dont mind but why does HID flicker? A lot. After my accident, they put back my HID and now only the left side flicker.
