But does anyone know if it's even possible to use the manual key in your driver's side door w/o the alarm going off? My fob battery went dead on me not too long ago, and I had to open my car with the manual (valet) key...then the freakin' alarm went off (it was soooo embarrassing )
E my alarm didnt go off with the key. the remote was about 30 feet away.

Maybe it was the way I used my key? It took me a while to unlock my door doing it manually (I was trying to be careful so I wouldn't sratch my paint). Maybe I made my car's entry system mad causing the alarm to go off? It probably thought I was an intruder trying to break in????

Just a thought. Great Mall has a key place in there if you are from the San Jose area. Lexus of Stevens Creek ripped me off.

Take it back to the dealership and get the system reprogrammed to a different set of smartkeys.. Last time I was quoted like 600 bucks at Fresno Lexus.

The same disaster just happened to my wife (stolen purse with the smart key in it !!!). Any possibility that insurance covers the cost for the new key + re-programming ?? Should I go through dealer ?

Thanks for your help !!

Check with your home owners insurance. My daughter had her purse stolen and home owners insurance took care of some of cost.
