Stolen smart key
So my gf smart key was stolen with her purse. She already file a police report. What can she do on her half to protect herself and the car from being stolen? She still has the other smart key. Thanks!

I guess I should ask my hacker friend.. LOL.. just kidding.
I think you should speak to the dealer, just to be safe.. they should be able to reprogram the key.. but I'm not sure how all the key stuff works as I don't own a Lexus..
Good luck!

Another factor to consider is the Homelink, and navigation with your home address programmed in. Before you can have the car’s code changed, have your Homelink code changed, lest this guy finds your home and gains entry. In that regard, I was told to never put your exact address in your address book. Rather, have it set for a block or two away. It will serve the same purpose, but not lead a car thief to your front door or garage.

Just have the dealer reset the code. It'll be easiest. Also have them get you a new key too to replace the stolen one.
Also, if you want. This is a more expensive option but it's just something for you to consider:
You can buy the Lexus LS keycard which is about the size of a credit card. Have Lexus program it if they will (ask them before buying it) and you now have a key to your IS that fits perfectly in your wallet

As stated in here already, the key that was "stolen" can removed from the cars computer.. done deal...
BUT, then you still might have the issue of the physical portion (valet part) of the key that will still be floating around, which can be used to open the drivers door.
Was the valet key still inserted in the smart key fob??
(see picture)
Good Luck

350 sounds kind of steep for 2 hours of work max unless it includes re-keying the car. Sewell our forum sponsor sells them and they can be programed for an IS. The physical key wont work on an IS though.
Good luck too you

So we had the dealer do the reprogram. It came out to $440 for the reprogram and a new remote with valet key cut.
I guess next on the list is to rekey the car.
