Ugly Spare Tire

Ugly Spare Tire
If anyone has ever checked, there is an ugly ugly yellow spare tire in the trunk of our cars. Why in the world did Lexus choose yellow? seriously now!
Heres a pic:
Well...I think this looks much better and it should have come from the factory this way:
Thats taping and covering the tire, sanding it with 300 grit down to the metal. Washing off wheel. Using alcohol to prep it. Primer spray used (3 coats), sanded with 600 grit. Wash again, alcohol to prep. Duplicolor graphite spray paint (3 coats), sanded with 2000 grit. Wash and alcohol to prep. Duplicolor clear coat finish (2 coats), sanded with 2000 grit. Wash and wax wheel. Done. Waited about a day in between each step.
Now I can roll around in "style" if I ever end up using the spare.

WOW. I wish I had this kind of time to spend on sanding down the wheel. If it were me, I'd just straight paint over the yellow. I wouldn't be rolling on that thing for more than 10 miles in the car's lifetime anyway. Good process though.

It is supposed to be butt ugly. An incentive to get it off the car. Its only for temporary use. People tend to leave them on if its not highly offensive to look at = liability for auto mfg when dumb a$$ drives on it for 1000+ miles

No doubt. When I had to put that thing on the car, I immediately drove to the dealership. I was thankful they had the tire in stock.

i remember riding on these for a day thanks to a flat. dam it was like the worst day, so embarrassing. next day had the flat fix for like $10 boom back to the trunk it goes. unfortunately i did not want to pay 400 dollars for some dunlop tires. that is not including installation either.
