My last tank of gas I decided to give myself an extra 10 minutes for any trip I needed to make and drive more with the flow of traffic. I got 24.6 mpg calculated and 24.2 indicated on my IS350. Normally I get 22.3 to 22.5. Almost 10% just by changing driving style. My co-worker with the G37 is complaining he can barely get 21 out of his car.

I can't imagine getting 17.5 from a 250. I'd be pissed off big time.

Yep, I rather have crappy MPG in my IS than rolling in a Prius anyday

Oh yeah, I hope you guys are not calculating your MPG based on the display of the car.......
Every time it is optimistic by at least 1 mpg, when compared to gallons pumped/miles driven.....

Right. And mine is always pessimistic. I think they're all different.

Geez can't help but laugh whenever I see those kinds of threads about gas being expensive. You guys are paying what $4.50 a gallon? we, over here in Quebec,Canada, we're paying $1.45-1.50 a liter, which is about $5.80 to $6 a gallon for only 87 octane gas. we've been paying over $4/gal for the last two years now, so guys, keep being happy for the way it is! haha

How much did you pay out of pocket for healthcare last year? You don't want to ask that question in the US. Sure your gas is more expensive, but our UK members are all laughing at North America complaining about fuel prices. It's all relative.

im in south carolina so dont get mad i got a refinery like right next to me...i get my premium for like $3.95 /gal almost 2 days ago...but yeah i get right around 26 MPG highway and city...my advice for better gas mileage

1) draft from truckers if u know how

2) find your optimal drag co-ef on ur car and figure out what speed u get the best MPG on the highway...(my 350 is around 72.5 mph almost and i get 32 mpg)

3) some may find this pointless but it works, when u turn ur car on, sit there for 30 to 45 secs. with ur car on...then drive off...in simple explanation, u let the gas in ur pips which has been sitting there completly burn off...then u can use the pure gas from ur gas tank, this puts less stress on ur engine having to go to 3k RPM with the krappy gas in ur fuel rail and pips

isn't refinery gas more expensive? the station that's located on the mobil refinery property in torrance is at least 10-15 cents/gallon more expensive than the shell station right across the street.

^^ Mobile has always been around 10-15 cents more in IL also. I dont use them but no matter where I go its that way. BP on one corner and Mobile on the other you would think they would compete and they dont? Now if its Shell and BP or any other they are fighting each other over pennies

I think we will be around 6$ in no time....

Crude is down $10.00 from last Thursday, pump prices are down about a nickel in my area. Couple of different sources for my long-term portfolios are selling off oil in commodities futures right now, estimating crude prices to drop to $75 - $100 by next year. Hopefully, the dollar will get a little help and oil will continue a gradual decline into autumn, giving some relief to the heating oil market, or there is going to be some real hardship this winter for many people across the US and Canada. Hang on, most money people think that $200 a barrel oil is media fear-mongering. "Offshore" commodities futures traders with US offices are starting to feel some heat from the FTC as well. Gasoline consumption alone in the US is down 2% from last year. Slight glut of oil exists right now, so many are expecting the market to correct itself, again by this time next year. So whoever is elected President in November will take credit for saving the US economy.....

No. Mixed city/hwy about 60/40%. Average speed for the 24 mile trip is 42 - 45 mph (~35 minutes).

One component of gas price is transportation cost; that's why if you compare two states that have similar gasoline taxes, the one closer to a refinery is likely to have lower gas prices.
