From my great experience, I would go for the brush on. Spray paint does not apply evenly and often times, is a bit gooy soft. You need the Duplicolor Ceramic kit and will have great results with minimal touch-up down he road.

tips: *copy n paste i wrote in another thread, reguarding front brakes only*
1. preparation is everything, get some gunk brake cleaner and a wire brush *i used a brass type* and clean them good, then after it dries wipe them down with a damp towel, you'll be surprised how dirty the towel gets...
2. 1 can brake cleaner for the front, 1 can for the back. *i only had one can and thus only did the fronts today* do not assume 1 can can do the front AND the back...
3. DO NOT use the brush in the dupli kit, its too stiff, go buy a real camel hair brush.
4. dont worry about the 'backside' of the brakes, waste of time.
5. when applying the paint, first coat go lightly and dont worry if it doesnt 'cover' well. 2nd coat will do the job. you can go more coats if you like but if you have a good brush 2 coats is fine. this will use half the can.

The Duplicolor brush on kit provided a deep and glossy finish. I used the brake cleaner from the kit and one can was just enough for all four for me. Have a rag, toothbrush or wire brush handy to really clean it well. Heed the advice of buying a new brush, I ignored the suggestion and was dealing with bristles constantly coming off and sticking on to the calipers. I did three coats up front and two on the back and still have half a can of paint. If you use the Lexus decals, pick up a can of Duplicolor Engine Enamel (spray) clear coat to protect the decal. Ok. I am OCD when it comes to this...It might just be my expectations but....
I did both this weekend. brush and spray.... and I came to the conclusion that brushing it first and then spraying it is the best way (at least for me).
I did the calipers on friday and they looked perfect on almost every surface, BUT on the flat part that shows the most. this surface is not regular caliper surface is different. So the paint did not sit perfect. dont get me wrong it looked great but not exactly how i wanted it
So i went and got spray paint and finished up today. Now, It does look much better. I gave it a couple of coats of spray over the already 3 brushed coats.
there is no streeking and you can only see that the caliper is black. you can not see the brush marks. and the outside of the caliper is completly flat instead of streeky. again some people thought i was crazy like my roomate and my GF. but once i finished up today they understood what i was talking about.
here are the BEFORE and AFTER pics:
this is with only brush paint. It looks worse in pictures because of the flash.
