Default Oops! Curb rash . . .

Backed out of a parking space. Didn't pay attention to how far the curb alongside me stuck out and GRINDDDDDD!!!!. I didn't want to look. Now, I have a previously PRISTINE wheel with about 6" of rash along the edge. Is it worth dealing with? If so, are there decent DIY procedures/kits or should I engage a pro? Cost?

your probably looking at around 100-150 to fix. If it is oem 18 just buy one off of ebay. about the same price.

I'll look at it this weekend. Probably hit it with some emery cloth and call it a day. Sure pisses me off when I do something clumsy like this. The profile of these wheels seem to line up perfectly with the tops of curbs. I guess it could have been worse . . .

there's a pretty good dyi here for curb rash. If I remember correctly, toyota/lexus tungsten pearl touch up paint after some/wet sand.

Thanks. I'll try to find it and give it a shot.

Just hit it with some fine 400/600 wet/dry sandpaper to knock off the sharp edges, and call it a day. It won't be the first, or last time you probably curb it. If you have liquid graphite wheels this works particularly well. If you have the earlier silver painted wheels, not so good.
