lets see, i had two bumps into my rear bumper which caused a small crease and a small dent, also have small ends on the side of my car. scraped the lip as well as my exhaust. rock chips on my windshield. i'm happy though since it could be a lot worse.

Sorry to hear everyones damages

Let me begin;
I have 6mo 1/2 with my 2IS

Third week of ownership: I was on my way to Six Flags Magic Mountain with my girlfriend and her two friends, I took a side fwy, a two lane road to connect to another fwy, there was a semi next to my right and I was going about 75mph, out of no where a desert bush starts rolling down the lane I was in, I was like I tried to brake but if I braked too hard god knows what could have happened and I couldn't switch lanes because there was only two and the semi was right next to me. So my car bumper and partial hood hits the bush and at the moment all I could think was oh man at least it was a bush and not a couch lol. Then I realize that my paint could be damaged, I get off the fwy and check the car, and to my surprise scratches all over the right side of my bumper, and some on the lower part of my hood, ouch! At this point I knew nothing about car paint and how it could be fixed all I could think of is "man am I going to need a respray"

Month and a half of ownership: It's late January, it's raining pretty hard out here in LA, I'm on my way to my girl's house, I arrive and I begin parallel parking, I can't see anything, and some LA streets are steep on one side, I'm trying my best to park good, I think I get it right when all of a sudden I hear metal cringing on the curve, it's my front right wheel. I get out inspect it and yup it got curved and the tire got a small slit on the wall lip. I tripped out for a whole week then I got over it.

Two and a half months of ownership: I'm driving home from a friends house, it's about 9pm, when all of a sudden I start hearing clicks while the car is moving, I was like oh no please don't be a nail! I get out check my tires and yup it was a nail, guess where? On the same wheel I curved a month before. It had a big head and around it a washer, I thought it went deep so I didn't try moving anything. The next day I had to get it fixed early in the morning before I got on the fwy for work, so I called my local Lexus dealership, since that's the only business that was opened at that time in the morning witch could fix my tire. I went there, they told me it was too close to the side wall, and that it was going to need to be replaced, they quoted me $375 plus install, so I said, have a nice day I'll drive with a nail in my tire. At that time it was already late so I went to a near by tire shop, the guy inspected it, pulled it out, and to my luck it didn't go in at all it was about a centimeter long and it only latched on to the thread. I was releaved

Four months of ownership: I'm outside washing my car, when all of a sudden I see a door ding on my rear driver side door. It was pretty sharp & you could only tell it was there from an angle, it was deep enough to feel the curve when you passed your hand through it. Luckily it wasn't scratched.

Six months into ownership: I'm on my way home from my girlfriends, I'm on the 101N on the far left lane, I just passed City Walk, traffic is pretty hefty around this time 9pm. I have a car behind me, one to my right, and one in front of me, I'm pretty much boxed in. All of a sudden I see the front car run over a long piece of wood, like a 3/4 the size of the lane, I look to my right and can't switch lanes, I can't brake because I would cause an accident, so I just run over the piece of wood. First thing that comes to mind "omg my bumper!" then when I ran it over, just the feeling of your wheels hitting something at 75mph, it's harsh way worst than any pot hole I've ever hit. After that my ride felt bumpy I was really tripped out! I thought maybe it blew out my suspension, or something broke. The tires were slightly scuffed midway threw the sidewall so that told me that the tires took a big hit and the must have flexed a whole lot. I took it to the dealership the next day concerned about my suspension, and they told me that I had a bent front left wheel, you can't tell it's bent but it's bent.

Resolutions!

Due to the damage the bush left on my car, I took to learning about detailing, and now I'm really good at it, I hate swirls & scratches, those exist less on my car. I fixed the front and it put a huge smile on my face to DYM (Do it myself) I'll post pictures of my ride soon

The curved wheel, eh it happens, I'm getting new wheels as soon as my tires wear out, so OEM are just going to sit in a dark room. Aside of that, the curved rash on my wheel will always remind me of the good time I had that night. Great memories

Nails suck!

The door ding on the driver rear door, got it fixed by a paintless dent repair specialist, now it looks as good as new like nothing ever happened there, paint in perfect condition no respray or remolding required.

The wood incident, got a new wheel waiting for me in the OC, one of the members in the forum, great price!

Other than those bad things,

Lip is scraped, if it isn't you're ride isn't low enough.
Rock chips here and there, need to fix them and Aerotect my car

Conclusion, yeah the world we live in is unsafe for even our cars, but we need to make the best of everything and learn from it. I learned a lot about my car from everything that happened to it. I think if everything that happened to it never happened to it I would be uneducated on ways of fixing the problem. There are a whole lot of environmental things that attack our cars on a daily basis, UV rays, bird poop, water spots, tar, huge semis on the fwy with their rock shooting tires, and random things laying around. Well everyone be safe, drive cautious, and always look out for the next thing that tries to attack our 2IS's

Goodnight everyone

Yeah of course. It's just my dumb luck. I was standing there eating my burrito off the taco truck and this BMW 6 series tries to parallel park the street in front of my car. I watched him back into my car, go WIDE OPEN THROTTLE and get the hell outta there. All this happened while I had a mouthful of carne asada and disbelief. When I finally came to I didn't even chase after him..it could've been worse. Whatever, I'm over it. Things like this are bound to happen, its just inevitable. makes me sadder than **** nonetheless.

This happened to my car a month after I brought it home, and just a few days after I installed the F Sport springs...

Deer ran in front of me on the freeway and you can see the rest of the story. $19,300 to fix it. No frame damage, and it's as good as new now. Body shop agreed to paint the new grille surround for free. I've had it back for 3 weeks now.

I looked extensively for a used one but there were none to be found in the color I wanted. And the new one I bought had to be located out of state. Where I live people are having to put down deposits and wait for the dealer to locate them.

NOT that I'm glad others have the same bad luck, but it does make me feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one who has such luck. This year has just been bad all around. I lost both of my grandparents earlier this year so that's been tough. I guess if I keep it in perspective it would help. Thanks for the help, guys & gals. Hopefully the repair will make it look like new again.

I didn't degrade her, but I certainly didn't give her any sympathy. I probably would not have cared if a meteor fell out of the sky and hit her at that moment in time since I was rather aggrevated. It sucks, but at least it wasn't your brand new Lamborghini or Porsche, then you can loose sleep. but then again if you can afford those cars it is all relative and the person would care because they are going to get a new one whenever they want.
I agree entirely with your well written story. OCD is completely fine since we are the one's paying for our car note. I had a lady back into my car in a left turn lane with a green arrow while she was on her cell phone and I had my hand on the horn for 6 seconds. She cracked the front bumper. I called the police and made a report. I was so pissed, I did not talk to the lady for 15 minutes until the police arrived. It happens to the best of us, but really happens when the car is new (LOL).

HAhahaha!

I remember with my new Ford, the LF wheel FELL OFF while my wife was going to the grocery store. Then the following week, it had a weird electrical malfunction where all the gauges stopped working. Unfortunately, the cooling fans quit working too, unbeknownst to me as I drove to the dealership. The engine overheated and suddenly quit, then the hoses exploded and I noticed the paint bubbling on the hood.....melted the freezeplugs out too.
As soon as we got it back, I was stopped at a red light and got rear-ended by a car full of drunk Native Americans....no insurance of course.

With my new Dodge, a real spoke wheel sans outside rim appeared out of nowhere on the freeway and impaled itself in my radiator and AC condensor....when we went to pick it up at the dealer after the repairs, the mechanic had left a large chisel (??!) sitting under the hood straight up, and had slammed the hood on it. So there it was, sitting in the service drive with a custom piercing... As I freaked out on the service advisor, he asked me "Are you sure you didn't bring it in here like that?".......

Then with my new Chevy, it blew up 3 power steering pumps and two ENGINES the first 8 months I had it! Then it got stolen. Unfortunately, it was recovered...

I traded it in on a Trooper and have had eight mostly uneventful years of ownership, hopefully the new Lexus can carry on that happy tradition!!

yups,

huge rock chip on the front of my hood at two weeks.

curbed the right front rim and scraped the right side lip to holy hell at two months.

got hit on front passenger side door when some idiot tried to squeeze between me and the curb on a two lane street (one lane either direction) at 4 months.

1.5cm rock chip on front windshield at 12 months.

not much you can do to avoid stuff happening. and you are right, after the accident the car no longer felt "new" anymore. which meant i no longer felt "guilty" about mods ^^

I've been lucky within my 7 months of ownership compared to some of stories I've been reading. The worst thing that has happened to my IS thus far was caused by the dealership....they ruined the finish on my front passenger seat during my 1k service.

I have 2 little rock chips in the bumper and have scraped my paint a few times with the hardware on my handbag getting in and out of my car (scratches were fixed as good as new with touch up paint). I have also collected two nails in my tires (fixed for free my America's Tire )

Everyone drive safely....it's a battle zone out there!
