For the record, from the Road and Track 350/G35 comparo on 2007 model cars-
IS350
0-60 4.9 seconds
1/4 mile 13.5 seconds
G35
0-60 5.4 seconds
1/4 mile 13.9 seconds
The IS actually wins here, but it's fairly close. If you check a different car magazine you get different numbers. Lexus themsleves only claim 5.3 for the IS350 which is so close to 5.4 as to be virtually identical... But they're always pretty close to each other, which is what I said.
The EPA says-
2007 IS350 gets 21/28 for mileage
2007 G35 gets 17/25 for mileage.

When I was testing out the G35 sedan, seems like I was averaging about 16mpg's in city, for the IS350, it was close to 19. Granted I spent about 20 mins with both of these cars at test drive, but the fuel consumption seems like they are very close to each other.

I had a G35 coupe 6 speed sport package before I got my IS350 sport package in April. No problems with the G35 and was fun to drive. IS350 is faster, handling is close, brakes equal, has a far better interior. Quality is better overall. IS 350 gets 22 mpg in mostly around town driving vs 17 mpg with the G35 (my mileage).
In terms of the transmission, I'm really liking the 6 speed auto (first auto in over 25 years). The G35 is difficult to shift smoothly, though not as bad as the 2002 M3 I had. The auto in the IS is excellent, and shifts much like I would manually when it is in ECT power mode. Best performance in full auto mode, but paddles are fun too.

I used to own an Audi A4 and my friend used to own a Audi S4. I was always jealous of his car. Now he owns a 06 G35 6speed, and I own the car in my sig. He says he wishes he got the IS instead of the G35. Before I got it though he wouldn't stop talking **** on the Lexus. I guess it serves him right for never bothering to test drive one.

I currently own the IS350 and have recently test driven both the G35s and the G37s (both autos). All of them are great cars, but I prefer the IS350 as the Gs have worse downshifting, it feels slower when the gear downshifts. the auto IS350 is great, you will not want to use the paddle shiftters. the paddle shifters is crap on the IS350 though. Do test drive both the the Gs and the IS. It's definitely worth the time.

Not really.
The IS350 only manages .84 on the skidpad, Edmunds got .90 out of a G35 sedan on the skidpad.
They also got 69.5 mph out of the G35 in the slalom while they only got 64.1 out of the IS350 and their IS350 0-60 times were slower than the 5.5 they got from the G35.
Road and Track on the other hand got better numbers from the IS350.
Like I said, it's close enough that it depends on what car magazine did the testing.
But for mileage, the IS350 is the pretty clear winner (unless you don't think 3-4 mpg is significant I guess)

The slalom and skid pad numbers would also only be of fair comparison if BOTH cars had the sport suspension set-up, and furthermore fitted with same tire make & model.

I drove both the G35 sedan and IS 350 when looking for my new car last summer. I drove the G35 first, and thought it was great. Plenty of power, nice styling, good handling, just a well made car overall. The same day I went and drove a IS350. Everything about IS just seemed better to me. Whisper quiet engine, smooth precise auto trans (and very responsive in sport mode), great interior styling (I prefer wood in my interiors) and comfort (the heated and cooled seats are very useful to me - I use them everyday and can't imagine being without them), and the exterior styling is just flawless. So, do I have any regrets not buying the G35? No, not for one minute. It's a great car, I enjoy driving it everyday! Just my .02

Just to chime in, I completely obliterate my friend's 06 G35 Sport Coupe. I mean like 3 car lengths by 70. I don't particularly like the clutch on that car, so the ability to get great starts with the IS accounts for some of the large margin. Even from a roll though, the IS pulls hard every time. I have intake, exhaust, and 20" wheels. He is stock with the 19s that come with the sport package. Both rims are forged.

The only thing you'll want to be careful with is the rwd during winter, and if we get a winter as bad as last year, the 350 won't be drivable during the winter heh glad to see another peep from Quebec

exactly. I also test drove G35S and G37S, all auto back to back w/ IS350. When compared to IS, lexus def. had more luxurious feel to it( let it be the interior, ride quality or the quietness within the cabin...) and G's felt just rough and noisy. and w/ f sport shocks and springs, handling is where all IS should be from the factroy.

I currently own a G35 coupe (6 spd manual), and am shopping for a new car...
either a 2008 G37S (6 spd manual) OR a 2008 IS 350 (sport package).
I wanted to know:
1) Have any of you gone from a G35 (manual) to an IS 350, and if so, how
do you like the IS 350 in comparison ?
AND,
2) How is the automanual shifting on the IS 350 ? (i.e. using paddles, is there
any hesitation upon shifting gears...delay or other annoying quirks ?? )
Thank you![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
p.s. positive feedback from you will have me going for a test drive for the IS 350![Wink](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
