Default Who's done the 30k service for their IS350?

What quotes have any of you got? Or how much did you pay?
Some are thinking about only doing the brake fluid replacement and oil change, since the other stuff seems nominal. Here's what one dealer said when inquired about the 30k:

The average cost for the 30k service on the IS 350 is $425.00—You will replace

Engine oil and filter

Engine air filter

Inspect and/or replace the A/C filter

Replace brake fluid

Rotate and balance tires

Complete diagnostic check and undercarriage inspections with road test

*your car has the new W/T transmission fluid which want get replaced till 100k

*your car has the new Life Long Coolant which we do not replace till 100k

*your car has the new synthetic rear end gear oil which we do not replace till 90k

well no rotation for you i would assume and you can do the filters yourself for much cheaper. please ask them what the diagnotic check entails because that has me curious.

Your tires don't get rotated. You can change the air filter yourself in like 5-10 minutes. (ac filter too for that matter)

Get the oil change, and the brake fluid change, skip the rest.

the dealer sucks, you can do all that stuff yourself for much much cheaper. If you don't have means to do it, then go to a regular mechanic and get it done, I bet all that work is not much more than $100.

Diagnostic test? If there is something wrong that would show up on a diagnostic test I would think it would throw some sort of service needed light on the dash.

You can always refuse all that service (tell them you'll do it yourself; there is no penalty against that).

Just ask for what you truly need to do: oil change and inspection only.

Got them to do a few less items for 325. Any better? I know I can have a local mechanic do it, but I do enjoy having everything documented at Lexus for resale reasons.
----Items covered------------------
Engine oil and filter

Engine air filter

Inspect and/or replace the A/C filter

Replace brake fluid

Rotate and balance tires

Complete diagnostic check and undercarriage inspections with road test

For $325.00 + tax

Given you have an IS350 I seriously doubt they rotated your tires.

The filter changes I imagine they charged you 4x what you could have bought the parts for yourself and they take literally 5-10 minutes to change.

The oil change and brake fluid swap were the only things that actually should have been done, and for about half that price, tops.

Haven't done anything yet, so may take your advice. How valuable would tire rebalancing be though? How often should that be done?

Unless your tire fell off your rim, the original weighs fell off your rim, some sort of life form growth within your tire, or a chunk of your rim fell off, you dont need to re balance it unless it wasnt done right in the beginning.

Tire balancing is only to use weighs to counter act the non uniform density and weight distribution of the rim + tires so that they are centered exactly in the middle to avoid wobbling.

Have nipped a few potholes here or there, but don't think the weights have come off.

Anyone purchased the AC filter? Just curious how much it runs, and if it's an easy swap, it's in the glove compartment right?

Read this thread. There's valuable info about the old and new filter.

I'll do the 30K service with my own mechanic, and probably cost less than half the quoted price from the dealer.

I would balance only the 2 front tires since the rears will never be in the front. If you drive at 70mph on the highway and feel a shimmy in your steering wheel your tires would most likely be out of balance. I would let them do the LOF/brake flush and you should replace all the filters yourself

I did my 30K service for $260. My dealership offered different levels for the 30K service so i picked the cheapest one.
