I have to say that there is not that much difference at the initial acceleration, meaning my butt really can't tell the half second or so 0-60 acceleration difference. However, once the IS F got up to speed then the difference is very clear and that's what the 100+ hp will do to you.

To say that the IS350 has no torque is just plain ridiculous, besides the 335i (really doesn't count in my book since it's TT charged) it has the highest torque output in its segment. That includes the 3.7L V6 in the G37!! Anyone who has put the IS350 into several 0-60 runs will know what you said is as far away as it can be from the truth.

Granted the IS350 isn't in the same league as the IS F but it is definitely no weak sauce especially with the F-sport suspension and sway bars.
Kinda my thoughts exactly...

The is350, is a great, great Daily Driver....

I didn't time it personally, but the 0-60 time for the IS350 is like five and a half seconds isn't it?

The F is in the low four second range, which seems to put the torque question to rest.

4.9 for the 350 according to at least one car magazine and a few folks who've timed theirs on here... others obviously have gotten slower times though

Same day/Same conditions I think it's safe to say a .5 second difference to sixty between the two cars.

Check out the 2 posts after yours...

Yup, the torque discussion is now officially at rest.

Let's see:

Edmunds: IS 350 6.1 seconds 0-60
Road and Track: IS 350 6.0 seconds 0-60
Forbes: IS 350 5.9 seconds 0-60
Auto Channel: IS 350 5.6 seconds 0-60
Lexus specifications: IS 350 5.3 seconds 0-60.
Car and Driver: IS350 5.1 seconds 0-60. (the most wildly optimistic number I could find)

Y'all is drinkin' y'alls own kool-ade.

Car and Driver reports 4.2 Seconds 0-60 from the IS-F.

This months Road and Track lists the IS350 at 4.9 and so does last months. The 4.2 for the IS-F is the same.

I wonder who's drinking who's kool-aid now...

Here's the suggestion, since we are all nice people here in Club Lexus we wouldn't laugh at you too much but just make sure you don't go out and tell everybody that the IS350 is "lack of torque". There are mean people out there...

We don't want you end up crying and feeling hurt...

I need advice on the below.. my opinion is provided about the IS 350.

If I keep my IS 350, I will likely install the F-Sport Sway Bar.. to give it better cornering in AutoCross and Road Course... have already installed the F-Sport intake.
I have not owned both, but I have driven both on a variety of driving conditions both race track (Laguna Seca & California Speedway) and daily street driving (All over California).

1. Regular everyday drive..
- IS 350 drives nice but could be more sporty feel
- Do people missed the AC seat on the IS-F?
-Regular everyday drive, some may find the IS-F's ride harsh, especially on concrete freeways and those with lots of expansion joints. I think the IS350 Sport package is a good out of the box package for those who don't plan to push the car hard but enjoy weekend drives in the twisties.

-After driving around an IS-F for a week, I actually missed having the ventilated seats the regular IS350 has (or in my case, my own GS350). It can get pretty hot in the all black interior IS-F. There were a few days it was pretty hot, and I ended up having to put a towel down on the seat to keep from burning my butt off.

2. AutoCross
- IS 350 kinda sux... poor at cornering and heavy..
(maybe should get the F-Sport Sway bar?)
- How will the IS-F perform? Is it too heavy?
-This is a good question. The 2IS is just a heavy car period. The sway bar helps flatten the ride, but it doesn't necessarily improve handling. Keeping the ride smooth in an auto-x setting as well as keeping 100% traction to all 4 of your tires is key. Actually adding a stiffer sway bar keeps your suspension from articulating as it should. It reduces maximum tire contact patch to the ground as the weight shifts back and forth.

-Unfortunately, the IS-F is a tad heavier than the IS350. Don't ask me how, but JavyLSU and I both were able to achieve faster times with a bone stock IS350 Sport Package vs. a full spec F-Sport IS350 through a timed auto-x course. You really can't use all the IS-F's power in a small coned off course. If your intention is just to auto-x this car, this isn't the one to do it in.

3. Road Course at the race track.
- IS 350 is ok.. great brake... need better acceleration... some body roll.. (maybe should get the F-Sport Sway bar?)
- IS-F should do good here...
-The IS350 with a sway bar and a good wheel/tire combo can accomplish it without a sweat. A good driver can hustle the IS350 through a road course with the right equipment. It's not necessarily how powerful the car is, but how smooth and balanced you can keep the car consistently lap after lap.

-Depending on how technical the road course is, the IS-F will shine. It has meaty breaks, plenty of acceleration power and a pretty good suspension to keep the car planted to the ground. Sure there are chances when you can upset the car's balance by giving it too much gas, but VDIM Sport does allow the car to be pushed to the limit and not cause you to spin out and lose the race.

This is me piloting the first ever Starfire Pearl/Alpine IS-F back in 8-15-07 at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey. I am one of the first in the world to drive the IS-F, even before any press worldwide!

This is the Mercury Metallic IS-F I drove around for a full week. I'll be posting up my review on this very soon:

Guys, we CANNOT quote the fastest 0-60 time and say that is how fast the car is. YOu have to take all the times it was tested and come up with an average. the IS 350 is a low 5 second car, clearly. The IS-F is clearly a full second faster. 0-60 and so on.

"butt in your pants" feeling can be misleading, much like us driving our Lexus at 100mph thinking it is 70 MPH

We shouldn't even be taking an avg of the numbers and say the car stock is this fast. People should really be paying attention to the weather conditions and altitude for the day of testing to put things in perspective.

I just realized the change on your sig there. Congrats! Since you got the fastest time with the IS350, can you do the same for us with the IS-F? Go get em!
